About The Position

The Adler Planetarium is seeking a Manager of Development Operations to join our dynamic team on Chicago's Museum Campus. The Manager of Development Operations is responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the donor and fundraising data integrity for the Development office, including reporting, analytics, and the integration of data from other databases. The Manager manages staff responsible for gift processing, membership processing, membership communications, membership programs, online gifts, development reporting, gift acknowledgment, financial reconciliation, and special projects. The Manager manages a Database Specialist role and a future membership coordinator. This individual will also be responsible for: Helping lead and design membership strategy alongside Associate Director of Institutional Giving, VP of Advancement, other department leadership, and external consultants, and ensuring implementation of that strategy alongside Membership Coordinator and development team members. Maintaining accurate donor and member data, including data entry, gift processing, list generation, statistical reports, analysis, and donor acknowledgments. Supporting the organization with detailed analysis and concise reporting/dashboards, leveraging multiple data sets. Building relationships and working with Marketing, IT, and Finance team members and other Museum teams to drive collaboration and communication on data projects and systems. Reviewing gift reconciliation between the Development and Finance teams weekly, identifying and following up on any discrepancies. Developing and maintaining dynamic team-based and database policies and procedures for membership and fundraising. Collaborating with IT, the technical administrator manages system configuration, maintenance, and security, and maintains relationships with applicable vendors. Ensure compliance with Adler's PII and data security policies and procedures regarding donor data. Coordinating data management from the Adler's database across other software. Work closely with IT to ensure the technical implementation of these integrations is secure and efficient. Overseeing the electronic filing systems related to database records, including gift collateral and membership documentation. Serving as a contact for internal and external sources for gift transactions and all development reporting functions, including donor stewardship reports, the annual report, annual fund campaigns, etc. Working with frontline fundraising staff on portfolio creation and management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or five or more years of professional work experience
  • Experience distinguishing between various donor and gift types.
  • Ability to build complex reports in Salesforce or comparable CRMs and databases.
  • Familiarity with development-specific data, including understanding of gifts, memberships, queries, and exports.
  • Experience working in a variety of fundraising systems required; knowledge of Salesforce required
  • Strong Google Suite skills, including expert-level spreadsheet capabilities.
  • Experience in designing and managing membership program acquisition, fulfillment, and renewal strategies and accompanying databases, reconciliation of member accounts, and the amortization process of member revenue
  • Experience in designing campaign systems that allow for the retrieval of performance data.
  • Strong reporting and analytical skills in measuring the effectiveness of fundraising campaigns and membership campaigns.
