About The Position

Vanguard Renewables, based in Weston, Massachusetts, is a national leader in environmental services and the development of food and dairy waste-to-renewable energy projects. The Company builds, owns, and operates on-farm anaerobic digestion facilities and is continuing to scale through an extensive national expansion of its Farm Powered ® platform. The Manager of Development is a hands-on technical leadership role that directly supports the Senior Director of Data Architecture by executing, reinforcing, and operationalizing the organization’s data and application architecture strategy. This role serves as a key extension of the Senior Director, ensuring architectural direction is translated into high-quality, scalable development and database solutions. The ideal candidate is a strong technical contributor, an effective people leader, and a flexible problem-solver who is willing to pivot as priorities evolve. This role works closely with onshore and offshore development teams and plays a critical role in ensuring consistency, quality, and reliability across development efforts.

Requirements

  • Strong SQL expertise, including stored procedures and advanced query development
  • Proven database development experience
  • Hands-on experience with: C# and .NET
  • Hands-on experience with: Python scripting
  • Solid understanding of Azure architecture and cloud-based development patterns
  • Experience working closely with offshore development teams
  • Willingness to write reports and support evolving reporting needs
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to take architectural direction and turn it into consistent, repeatable development practices

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Fabric
  • Exposure to ML models/knowledge of AI tools
  • Working knowledge of SCADA systems and integration of operational data into enterprise data platforms
  • Experience supporting data centric, analytics, or operational technology (OT) environments
  • Prior experience working in evolving or modernized architecture landscapes

Responsibilities

  • Act as a primary operational and technical support partner to the Senior Director of Data Architecture
  • Translate architectural standards and direction into executable development and data practices
  • Ensure development, database, and reporting solutions align with enterprise data architecture principles
  • Directly support the Senior Director of Data Architecture by: Executing architectural designs and patterns
  • Directly support the Senior Director of Data Architecture by: Reinforcing development, data, and integration standards
  • Directly support the Senior Director of Data Architecture by: Assisting with day-to-day operational leadership of development efforts
  • Lead, mentor, and coordinate development resources, including close collaboration with offshore teams and internal stakeholders
  • Design, build, and sustain application and database solutions aligned to defined architecture
  • Develop and optimize complex SQL queries, database objects, and stored procedures
  • Own and contribute to strong database development and performance practices
  • Perform hands-on development using: C# and .NET
  • Perform hands-on development using: Python scripting
  • Perform hands-on development using: Angular
  • Perform hands-on development using: Azure SQL
  • Perform hands-on development using: Azure cloud environment (azure functions, dev/ops-CI/CD)
  • Support and, when necessary, develop operational and business reports
  • Partner with architecture, infrastructure, security, and business stakeholders to deliver reliable solutions
  • Assist in troubleshooting, performance tuning, and root-cause analysis
  • Demonstrate flexibility and willingness to learn new platforms, tools, and approaches as the architecture evolves
