About The Position

The Manager of Custodial Services is responsible for overseeing custodial operations across all school facilities within the division. This role ensures that all schools and buildings are maintained in a clean, safe, and sanitary condition that supports teaching, learning, and community engagement. The manager supervises custodial staff, organizes daily operations, develops standardized cleaning protocols, and works closely with maintenance, administration, and security teams to promote a healthy, welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors. Additionally, this role includes team-building, problem-solving, and planning functions that align with the school division’s strategic priorities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in custodial services
  • Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Working knowledge of custodial practices, cleaning tools, OSHA regulations, and workplace safety protocols
  • Proficiency in basic computer systems and scheduling or maintenance software
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Must successfully complete all required background checks

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily custodial operations and schedules to ensure cleanliness and efficiency across all district buildings.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate custodial personnel to ensure high performance and adherence to division policies.
  • Develop and implement cleaning procedures that promote safety, consistency, and quality control.
  • Conduct regular inspections and walkthroughs to monitor sanitation and facility conditions.
  • Manage inventory and procurement of custodial supplies and equipment.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to maintenance requests, cleaning emergencies, or special projects.
  • Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, including OSHA guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments such as Maintenance, Security, and Administration to coordinate facility operations.
  • Develop and manage custodial services budget, making cost-effective decisions.
  • Lead regular team meetings aligned to school and division goals; facilitate collaborative problem-solving and data-informed decision-making.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive team culture that emphasizes trust, accountability, and innovation.
  • Design and implement methods to collect and analyze staff and stakeholder feedback; use results to drive continuous improvement.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
