About The Position

City Wide is seeking a results-driven Manager of Construction to lead and manage our construction services division. In this role, you will drive the sale of construction-related services—with a primary focus on Tenant Improvements (TI)—for commercial and public sector clients. You will source, engage, and manage independent contractors to fulfill awarded projects, overseeing on-site building operations, subcontractor progress, budgets, and safety compliance to deliver work on time, on budget, and to client specifications.

Requirements

  • An active General Contractor (GC) certification/license is required.
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial construction, construction sales, or construction project management; Tenant Improvement and public sector experience strongly preferred.
  • Specialized knowledge of commercial construction practices, including cost estimation, budgeting, subcontractor bidding, remediation (fire/flood/mold), roofing systems, and construction cleaning.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards, permitting, and building codes in KS-MO.
  • Demonstrated B2B sales and negotiation skills with the ability to build long-term client and contractor relationships.
  • Strong organizational, budgeting, and project management abilities; able to manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Personal characteristics: self-directed, accountable, high integrity, strong sense of urgency, and a customer-service orientation.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), CRM systems, and Power BI; experience with project management or estimating software preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Business, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.

Responsibilities

  • Grow annual Construction Services contract revenue year over year, with a primary focus on Tenant Improvement projects, by prospecting, estimating, and closing construction-related opportunities (improvements and repairs, fire/flood/mold remediation, roof repairs and installations, construction cleans, and related services).
  • Develop and maintain a qualified sales pipeline equal to 3 times the monthly contract revenue goal, converting a minimum of 30% of proposals to awarded projects; document all activity in the CRM.
  • Manage project budgeting, cost estimation, and subcontractor bidding coordination, delivering estimates within 1 week of receiving project opportunity and achieving a minimum gross margin of 15%.
  • Source, vet, and engage a network of a minimum of 2 qualified, insured independent contractors across key trades; verify licensing, insurance, and W-9/compliance documentation for 100% of engaged contractors prior to project start.
  • Oversee on-site building operations, subcontractor progress, and safety compliance for commercial and public sector builds—from kickoff through closeout and final walk-through—delivering 100% of projects on time and within budget with zero recordable safety incidents.
  • Ensure full compliance with General Contractor licensing requirements, permitting, building codes, and OSHA safety standards on 100% of projects.
  • Partner with City Wide sales and operations teams to cross-sell construction services into the existing client base, generating 5 new construction opportunities per month from current accounts.
  • Analyze, track, and report division performance (revenue, margin, pipeline, project status) monthly to leadership using CRM and Power BI dashboards.
  • Travel: up to 70% local travel by automobile to client sites, job sites, and contractor meetings.
