About The Position

The Manager, Clinical Nutrition serves as the senior and primary representative for all patient care nutritional activities. This role provides leadership and oversight for the clinical nutrition services program, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based nutrition care and compliance with regulatory standards. The Manager develops and implements nutrition care policies, leads staff education, and promotes collaboration across disciplines to improve patient outcomes and operational efficiency.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in relevant field required or Four (4) plus years of direct experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree required
  • 2-4 years of experience in closely related field with Bachelor's degree required
  • RD - Registered Dietician required
  • SAFE Serve Certification obtained within two (2) weeks of hire required or Food Handlers Card obtained within two (2) weeks of hire required

Responsibilities

  • Oversees the clinical nutrition program, ensuring the delivery of safe, effective, and evidence-based medical nutrition therapy for patients across all care settings.
  • Directs and supports clinical dietitians in the assessment, diagnosis, intervention, and monitoring of patients’ nutritional needs according to established policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Schedules and allocates clinical nutrition staff based on census, acuity, and budget guidelines to ensure appropriate coverage and patient care continuity.
  • Develops, reviews, and updates nutrition care policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure compliance with The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory agencies.
  • Monitors clinical outcomes and performance metrics to evaluate program effectiveness, ensuring continuous quality improvement and patient satisfaction.
  • Provides guidance, education, and competency training to staff on nutrition standards, therapeutic diets, and documentation practices.
  • Serves as a liaison between clinical nutrition, food services, nursing, and medical staff to promote interdisciplinary communication and optimal patient outcomes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Provides leadership, mentorship and professional development opportunities for departmental staff.
  • Schedules employees to ensure effective use of resources. Consults with Director on staffing issues.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, sets goals and provides feedback to staff on their performance and development.
  • Develops and manages departmental budget ensuring cost effective operations while maintaining high quality service.
  • Monitors expenditures, ensuring cost-effective delivery of services.
  • Evaluates and implements new technologies to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Develops and implements departmental policies and procedures and protocols to optimize quality and overall efficiencies.
  • Ensures compliance with all relevant regulatory bodies. May oversee the accreditation process with relevant agencies ensuring that services meet or exceed industry standards.
  • Participates in audits, inspections and accreditation processes as applicable.
  • Follows established quality control practices to ensure accuracy, consistency and safety.
  • Works closely with leadership teams to coordinate and improve service delivery.
  • Stays up-to-date with industry advancements, new technologies, and regulatory changes.
  • May work in a staff role, when required. Ensures that duties and responsibilities are fulfilled while meeting all competencies established for that job.
