About The Position

This role involves managing behavioral health services for an assigned unit, ensuring adherence to evidence-based standards and quality care for patients and families. The position requires leadership in staff development, quality improvement initiatives, budget management, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The manager will also be responsible for interpreting and implementing departmental policies, monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements, and contributing to the overall mission and values of the organization.

  • Collaboration on projects or problem-solving with various departments (Pharmacy, Lab, Case Management, Risk Management, Regulatory, Compliance, Quality).

Responsibilities

  • Establishes standards of nursing for the unit, applying evidence-based standards and health care research.
  • Plans, organizes, and directs health services for an assigned unit and insures that goals, objectives and work performed are consistent with standards and that quality care is provided to patients and families. Communicates with all staff members and provides feedback on a regular basis.
  • Selects, mentors, motivates and directs development and evaluation of staff. Establishes and tracks quality improvement indicators and other information concerning services and care to insure that resources are available to provide quality services and on-time performance consistent with standards.
  • Participates, consults and collaborates in the development of long range plans for unit. Interprets and communicates departmental policies and procedures. Establishes areas of responsibility and assignment. Develops or implements policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
  • Receives, analyzes, and evaluates reports and other information and coordinates quality improvement activities concerning the care of patients, equipment, environmental health and safety conditions, and other related services in improving the quality and utilization of health care.
  • Manages budget estimates and other information concerning financial requirements. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to insure compliance with budget guidelines and effective delivery of services.
  • Coordinates and develops on-going activities to monitor nursing compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Works collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary care team to provide holistic care.
  • Collaborates with educators regarding staff development needs.
  • Collaborates in projects or problem-solving with Pharmacy, Lab, Case Management, Risk Management, Regulatory, Compliance, and Quality departments.
  • Adheres to downtime procedures.
  • Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by Humboldt Park Health.

  • Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
  • Checks hospital email daily.
