Manager, New Verticals- Retail Strategy & Operations

DoorDash USA•Chicago, IL
•$136,000 - $200,000•Remote

About The Position

The New Verticals team is building the future of local commerce through expanding our product offerings on our marketplace platform. We launched in 2020 and have since then built world-class operations to delight our customers with access to Grocery, Convenience, Alcohol, and Retail delivery through our marketplace; this team is shaping the future of DoorDash Retail and how we empower local economies across industries like electronics, home improvement, apparel, and use cases outside of what people eat. As a Manager on the Retail Pricing & Planning team, you will own the planning, operating rhythm and manage the economics of DoorDash's Retail business. You'll work closely with Strategy & Operations, Finance, Product, Partnerships, and New Verticals platform teams to be successful. You'll be responsible for setting the operating cadence that keeps Retail on plan: defining the metrics that matter, running weekly business reviews, and driving quarterly planning into focused sprints against growth and profitability. On pricing, you'll own how we set consumer fees and structure merchant economics–partnering with our Platform team on fee architecture and making sure our strongest merchant deals are in place and performing. Your work bridges planning, pricing, and commercial strategy across retail categories. You turn targets into operating plans, and plans into measurable outcomes. This role requires strong financial acumen and comfort with data. You should move fluently between cents and millions, be able to make frameworks for tradeoffs, and be comfortable modeling when needed. SQL and a track record of building the tools you need will help. You will report into a Director on our Retail Strategy & Operations team and be an individual contributor, with the opportunity to build a team in the future.

Requirements

  • 6-8+ years of experience. You’ve succeeded in similar cultures that are highly analytical and cross-functional (whether in tech, e-commerce, operations, strategy, consulting, banking, or a related experience).
  • You are an owner. You're always looking for opportunities to better your work product and own the outcome – both the good and the bad
  • You're entrepreneurial. You have a bias for action and are able to build things from the ground up.
  • You’re analytical. You let data win arguments, and you’re comfortable pulling your own data in SQL, building models, and building the tools you need to create 10x outcomes.
  • You are AI Native. You root cause problems with a systems first approach and can identify how to automate repeatable tasks using AI tools like Claude, Cursor, Gemini or Copilot.
  • You’re equally comfortable operating at 10,000 feet and 1 foot. You don’t hesitate to get in the weeds and operate at the lowest level of detail, but you’re just as comfortable thinking long-term and inspiring a team.
  • You’re unafraid of ambiguity. Rapid change and learning is exciting to you, and you thrive in ambiguous, startup environment
  • You have a completed Bachelor’s Degree.
