Manager Network Engineering
About The Position
The Manager Network Engineering oversees the design, configuration, and deployment of company data networks. The role ensures efficient network operations, maximizes performance, minimizes downtime, and coordinates network access and usage. The manager diagnoses and resolves network issues and researches new technologies to continually improve network infrastructure. The position architects, implements, and maintains network solutions supporting core infrastructure and services in virtual, private, and public cloud environments. It also provides project management and technical direction for network upgrades, implementations, and migrations; maintains environment and operational documentation; and partners with organizational teams on issue resolution and enhancements. The manager leads a team of network professionals, including interviewing, hiring, training, performance reviews, and employee discipline or termination in accordance with company policy. The role is based in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with a stated schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in installation, configuration, troubleshooting, repair, support, administration, design, and planning in LAN/WAN/Cloud environments.
- Proficiency in designing, configuring, and deploying network systems.
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure they are completed on time and within budget.
- Strong problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve network issues.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with team members, other departments, and senior management.
- Strong leadership skills to supervise a team of network professionals, provide guidance, and foster a collaborative work environment.
- Familiarity with networking technologies and tools, including routers, switches, firewalls, VPNs, cloud, and network monitoring tools.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, or an equivalent degree or experience.
- Previous project management experience working on complex, multifaceted implementations.
- Current valid industry certification or other industry-recognized certifications.
Responsibilities
- Architect, implement, and maintain network solutions that provide core infrastructure and integrate with services and systems in virtual, private, and public cloud infrastructure.
- Ensure network infrastructure is robust, secure, and capable of supporting organizational needs.
- Communicate with the team to identify needs, monitor performance, and diagnose and resolve network and systems issues.
- Manage network projects, including upgrades, implementations, and migrations, and provide technical direction and user support as needed.
- Create, update, and maintain documentation of the environment and operational procedures.
- Create reports and documentation outlining findings and solutions.
- Partner with teams across the organization to resolve issues and develop future enhancements.
- Interview, hire, and train staff; provide timely, constructive performance reviews; and handle discipline and termination in accordance with company policy.
