About The Position

The Network Economics & Value Optimization (NEVO) team plays a critical role in shaping Mastercard's network economics by driving governance, strategic alignment, value optimization, and execution across pricing and interchange initiatives globally. The Team partners with regional teams, product organizations, finance, legal, compliance, and other business functions to ensure economics related decisions support Mastercard's growth strategy while maintaining consistency, transparency, and regulatory readiness. As Mastercard continues to expand its products, services, and ecosystem, the need for scalable governance frameworks, disciplined execution has never been greater. This role will support the development and management of governance processes, pricing and interchange policies, strategic initiatives, and performance management practices that help optimize value, improve decision making, and strengthen organizational accountability. This position offers a unique opportunity to influence high impact initiatives across the organization, providing visibility into critical business decisions while partnering with senior stakeholders to enhance governance, operational effectiveness, and commercial outcomes.

Requirements

  • Experience applying financial and business management principles, theories, and concepts.
  • Experience with financial modeling (e.g., P&L projections, Cost-benefit, ROI, etc.)
  • Advanced PC skills including Microsoft Office Suite, data mining, python, Power BI, Tableau, Etc.
  • Strategic thinker with a strong orientation to detail and execution.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills; ability to build alignment without direct authority.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, ensuring that key messages are articulated in a brief and clear manner.
  • Self-managed and self-driven. Able to anticipate needs and execute according to them. Ability to turn data into meaningful information and present it in a concise, professional manner for senior management review.
  • Ability to lead through influence and thrive despite challenges.
  • Ability to interact effectively across multiple functions, geographies, and levels within the company.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to work on several projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

  • Play a key role in developing & implementing network economics and value optimization strategies, building new tools to inform how we set our pricing and interchange, and conducting analysis as needed on strategic questions & issues.
  • Serve as the main liaison to regional and services organizations.
  • Effectively manage and prioritize execution of portfolio of key transformational initiatives.
  • Successfully drive initiatives from ideation to creation, regional syndication, and execution.
  • Identify and develop creative solutions, with a strong analytical and fact-based foundation, and lead teams toward its implementation.
  • Develop and refine strategies that are consistent with our business objectives cross-regionally.
  • Leverage and contribute to developing models and frameworks for assessing pricing and interchange through competitive benchmarking vs. traditional and emerging payments providers, comparison vs. alternatives (e.g., cash/check) and the value created and delivered to each part of the four-party system.
  • Conduct strategic analysis as needed to help evaluate new ideas, benchmark across MasterCard’s products and services, and inform decisions on pricing and interchange levels.
  • Contribute to the development of global pricing & interchange strategies and roadmap.
  • Partner and liaise with several stakeholders across the organization conducive to advance assigned projects.
  • Communicate effectively to peers and management progress against initiatives.
