Solve by Talent is partnering with the University of Sydney to recruit a Manager, Mobile & Portal Development to support the delivery of key Information and Communications Technology initiatives that help shape the future of education, research, and innovation. With strong investment and clear direction, you’ll operate in a large and complex environment where your contribution has visible, meaningful impact across the University. You’ll collaborate across academic and professional communities to help shape a more connected and capable University, supporting teaching excellence, research impact, and student success. This role leads a critical platform that supports student and staff portal experiences across mobile and web, connecting users to services, applications, events, maps and University resources. You will provide technical and architectural leadership across React Native, React, Node and AWS/serverless environments, helping ensure the platform remains stable, secure, modern and user-friendly.

Requirements

  • Significant experience leading mobile and web application development.
  • Strong technical depth across React Native, React, Node and cloud-native environments.
  • Experience guiding architecture, code quality, security and platform modernisation.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, prioritisation and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to balance reliability, user experience, technical debt and delivery outcomes.
  • Must have unrestricted work rights in Australia for the duration of this employment to be eligible to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development and lifecycle of mobile and portal applications.
  • Provide technical and architectural guidance across mobile, web and cloud components.
  • Coach developers, guide code-level decisions and uplift engineering practice.
  • Manage prioritisation, demand and technical debt across a critical University platform.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders, product teams and technical specialists.
