About The Position

The Manager, Marketing and Events supports Tree Canada’s integrated marketing strategy by coordinating annual campaigns; managing relationships and budgets with creative, advertising and media partners and agencies; organizing promotional events; curating content; and analyzing campaign results and market data to direct and adapt future campaigns. The Manager also creates memorable and unique experiences for Tree Canada donors, sponsors, and communities through the planning and execution of in-person and virtual donor and community events. They oversee all aspects of events in support of donor/sponsor recognition, community engagement, workplace engagement, education, and awareness. The Manager, Marketing and Events facilitates and project manages events from conceptualization through to execution and post-event evaluation. This position works in close collaboration with the Development, Communications, and Finance departments, as well as with external partners.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary education in marketing, communications, public relations, tourism, or hospitality.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience organizing and coordinating events, conferences, and exhibitions.
  • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Proven and creative event project management experience including budget management and event promotion.
  • Proven experience developing and executing multi-channel marketing and/or communications campaigns.
  • Strong understanding of marketing analytics and metrics, and ability to analyze and translate campaign results into actionable reports.
  • Experience with organizing virtual and in-person events.
  • Demonstrated experience with vendor/supplier negotiations and contracting.
  • Strong relationship management skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills; an active listener who communicates clearly, respectfully, and effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communications in English.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management, multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Able to troubleshoot and problem-solve last minute event challenges.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 and database software such as Salesforce, Raiser’s Edge, or similar.

  • Fluency in French is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements an annual integrated marketing strategy and budget that fully utilizes sponsor-led customer facing campaigns and earned/paid media sources to maximize impact and efficiencies.
  • Works with the Communications department to ensure message and brand consistency throughout all campaigns from acquisition, conversion, and stewardship to brand recognition and awareness.
  • Manages relationships with external creative agencies to ensure proper and timely execution of deliverables within budget.
  • Creates regular reporting mechanisms to integrate all campaign data from agencies, media, advertising contractors and internal platforms to better inform future campaign decisions.
  • Creates comprehensive marketing analysis with support of external contractors to help inform and position Tree Canada’s annual marketing investment and future planning.
  • Identifies event objectives and creates event concepts/themes for Tree Canada and partner events, in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer.
  • Oversees all aspects of event project management including developing and adhering to critical paths, negotiating with suppliers, booking event venues, guest registration, and day-of logistics (set-up and tear-down, sponsor deliverables, post-event thank you correspondence, print and digital collateral, etc.).
  • Develops event budgets, tracks expenses, reviews invoices and remains within event budgets, with support from the Chief Development Officer.
  • Sets, monitors, and reports on event targets and progress on key performance metrics, in collaboration with the Chief Development Officer.
  • Attends events in-person, supports team members as required, solves problems when unanticipated event challenges arise.
  • Performs post-event tasks promptly including reports, budget reconciliation, event effectiveness, and documenting issues, lessons learned, and resolutions.
  • In collaboration with the Communications department, prepares event promotional materials, identifies opportunities to communicate events through social media and other communication channels.
  • Facilitates ongoing communications with colleagues and partners before, during, and after events.
  • Keeps the Chief Development Officer updated and liaises regularly with Development and Communication departments on event messaging, collateral, and objectives.
  • Other related duties as assigned
