This role is responsible for directing and controlling all elements of the manufacturing process for assigned value streams while operating within capital and budget parameters. The Operations Manager will assume overall accountability for safety, production costs, and efficiency. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, or relevant equivalent course of study
  • 5 -10 years’ experience in manufacturing supervision
  • Demonstrated and applied knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement concepts
  • Excellent communication skills (oral and written).
  • Industry experience in fabrication/machining environment
  • Managerial courage with a strong emphasis on interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills and ability to adapt to shifting priorities and multi-tasking
  • Effective ability in conflict management/resolution
  • Detail oriented, self-assured, tactful, supportive
  • Mechanical Background
  • Knowledge in FLOW Manufacturing
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma and Kaizen techniques
  • Consumer Products Industry Experience
  • Knowledge of SAP systems
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic team environment and compromise to the overall benefit of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop strategy and execution of value stream(s) growth.
  • Develop standard work for supervisors and operators.
  • Responsible for all training aspects of all direct reports (quality, manufacturing processes, TPM, 5’s).
  • Maintains records of all training activities, evaluate skill gaps and implements cross training to meet business needs.
  • Drive process development, lean culture and work with all support functions to improve material flow.
  • Continually reviewing and evaluating existing operating policies, procedures, systems, schedules, equipment, etc., and overseeing the implementation of modifications and improvements.
  • Establishes operating policies, procedures and practices for manufacturing area; interprets and explains objectives, programs and policies.
  • Drive, produce and communicate results of Department Safety, Quality, Customer Service, and Cost KPIs.
  • Weekly communication to operations leadership team, monthly communication to direct reports.
  • Ensure safe working conditions and practices are maintained at all times.
  • Ensures strict compliance with corporate EH&S goals and compliance objectives.
  • Ensures that programs and procedures are adopted to guard against industrial accidents and protect the safety and well-being of employees.
  • Maintain quality standards through all processes; reacts to quality issues and responds with sustainable corrective actions.
  • Utilizes lean concepts to drive process improvements, data analysis and regular project management.
  • Fully support and comply with all ISO Quality and Environmental Systems and Stanley Fulfillment System (SFS) objectives and projects.
  • Responsible to work with engineering and product teams to insure manufacturability of new product(s), machine specifications, plant capital requirements, project timelines, and production launch.
  • Management of inventory accuracy through cycle counts, scrap transactions, production transactions, and BOM yield reviews.
  • Responsible for effective near miss, accident, quality and property damage investigations and corrective action.
  • Develop/maintain staffing plans in accordance with forecasted demand.
  • Develop and maintain a rolling 3-year strategy plan addressing operations resources (machinery and personnel).
  • Recommend and implement more efficient production methods, processes, purchasing, tooling and manpower usage techniques as required to meet or exceed flow line goals.
  • Supervise product management and necessary records and controls to assure accurate inventories of materials, parts and finished goods.
  • Execute other duties as assigned.
