About The Position

Hammond Power Solutions Inc. is a global manufacturer headquartered in Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and a leader in the custom design and manufacture of dry type transformers. For the past century, HPS has grown to deliver electrical power solutions to global markets and provides solutions for complex applications like, mining, rectifier, drives, traction, wind, solar and many other electrical power applications. The world relies on HPS to continually conceive and produce state-of-the-art transformer technology. This role will manage and develop preventative maintenance systems while leading team members. This role involves providing efficient, cost-effective transformer construction processes and instructions. They will be responsible for ensuring sufficient equipment is available to meet forecasted demands and the implementation of equipment and processes. The successful candidate will also manage and develop Preventative Maintenance systems for the Guelph and Aberfoyle facilities.

Requirements

  • 6 to 9 years of related work experience with 5+ years of leadership experience
  • Completed post-secondary education (College Diploma or Degree) preferably in Engineering (Mechanical Engineering an asset)
  • High degree of knowledge with ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with electronic and electrical circuitry, hydraulics, pneumatics, welding processes, strengths of materials, and basic chemistry
  • Thorough understanding of Engineering Drawings
  • Ability to be hands on to demonstrate processes and large equipment
  • Proven ability to manage people in the Maintenance or Engineering fields.
  • Ability to lead a team of 10 employees
  • Ability to travel locally to our Aberfoyle location as required

Responsibilities

  • Ensure availability of equipment to meet production forecasts
  • Provide direction on breakdowns and lead non-routine maintenance issues
  • Provide direction for non-standard processes and designs
  • Responsible for efficient, cost-effective transformer construction processes and instructions.
  • Provide leadership and direction in the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and maintain preventative maintenance system
  • Monitor and manage janitorial services- in-house and contract services, facility grounds, lawn maintenance, snow removal and security systems
  • Responsible for managing building maintenance requirements
  • Ensures facility is in legal compliance with Ministry Orders/ requirements
  • Ensure Compliance to relevant bodies, including UL, CSA, CE, ISO, and MOL and hazardous waste programs
  • Conduct annual performance reviews, manage workload assignments of team members
  • Provide guidance and training for employees in the department, ensuring the health and safety of employees and supporting health and safety initiatives
  • Manage employee conduct and provide counselling and guidance to team members
  • Lead, plan and complete projects, which includes managing the capital budget for Guelph
