About The Position

The Manufacturing Engineering Manager plans, directs, and coordinates the activities of the manufacturing engineering and quality departments. This role serves as the technical bridge between product design and production, oversees the design of custom machinery, implementation of robotics, and optimization of manufacturing processes to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.

Requirements

  • Thorough understanding of plant engineering, industrial engineering, and tooling.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software to prepare budgets and records.
  • Thorough understanding of Continuous Improvement methodologies and applications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent experience in a manufacturing engineering and manufacturing field, required.
  • At least five years of supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Recruits, interviews, hires, and trains new staff in the department.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.
  • Manages the M-BOM, New Product Release (NPR) process, and Engineering Change Requests/Notices (ECR/ECN).
  • Leads the design, controls programming, and implementation of robotics and custom machinery to enhance plant production flow.
  • Collaborates with Product Management and leadership to set priorities and ensure the feasibility of manufacturing new designs.
  • Manages time and labour routing, SOP creation, and Pre-Fab production programming to reduce costs and improve throughput.
  • Develops machinery specifications for CAPEX spend; coordinates plant renovations, expansions, and oversees outside contractors/vendors.
  • Oversees the Quality group and works with product designers and R&D to ensure prototypes meet production standards before full-scale release.
  • Ensures all machinery and operations comply with local regulations; assists with service scheduling and maintenance programs to minimize downtime.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
