About The Position

The Greater Toronto Airports Authority (GTAA) is seeking a Manager, Maintenance Response for a 1-year term. This role is crucial in supporting the GTAA's short and mid-term business strategy by providing guidance and leadership to teams performing daily maintenance on systems at Toronto Pearson Airport. The position contributes to the GTAA's overall success by influencing employee decisions and ensuring efficient operations.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in people leadership, leading a team of trades in a unionized environment.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a customer-centric environment, demonstrating a strong commitment to service excellence.
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a D/A AVOP.
  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in a related field or minimum 5 years of combined equivalent work experience and education.
  • Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the maintenance team in responding to system outages and executing non-intrusive preventative maintenance across terminals, ensuring alignment with the work plan and budget.
  • Plan, recruit, coach, and mentor team members to foster development and uphold corporate values.
  • Establish performance expectations and standards of excellence; monitor and audit performance to ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies and procedures.
  • Partner with Human Resources to lead labour relations matters fairly and consistently, including contributing to grievances and arbitration processes.
  • Collaborate with Customer, Terminal Services, and Aviation Services teams to deliver high levels of service.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders and external customers to support effective collaboration.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to terminal system outages.
  • Identify opportunities to improve work programs and implement enhancements to achieve performance targets.
  • Ensure adherence to all applicable health, safety, and corporate policies, procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Develop and implement departmental policies, processes, and procedures to drive operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular terminal inspections with Customer, Terminal, and Aviation Services leadership to identify deficiencies and ensure timely corrective actions.
  • Lead by example by clearly defining expectations and success measures, fostering a positive, safe, and compliant work environment aligned with relevant legislation and regulations.
