About The Position

The position of Educational Developer is jointly (50%/50%) supported by, and contributes to the combined effectiveness, of the StFX Teaching and Learning Centre (TLC) and StFX Online Learning & Professional Studies (StFX Online) across all in-person and online courses, programs, and departments. The Educational Developer advances academic institutional priorities in accessibility, generative artificial intelligence, and faculty development across in-person, online, blended, and technology-enhanced learning environments. The position provides pedagogical and instructional design leadership through consultation, professional development programming, resource development, and facilitation. By bridging evidence-informed teaching practice, inclusive course design, and educational technology, the position supports faculty and teaching staff in strengthening teaching effectiveness, enhancing student learning, and responding to emerging needs in higher education.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Technology, Adult Education, Curriculum Studies, Instructional Design, or a related field; doctoral degree considered an asset.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of related experience in educational development, faculty development, instructional design, or post-secondary teaching and learning support.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-informed teaching and learning practices in higher education.
  • Experience supporting online, blended, and technology-enhanced learning environments.
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards, inclusive teaching practices, and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) principles.
  • Familiarity with generative artificial intelligence tools and emerging issues related to teaching, learning, and assessment.
  • Strong consultation, facilitation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience designing and delivering workshops, professional development programming, and educational resources.
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities independently and collaboratively.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with faculty, staff, and cross-functional teams in a collegial and collaborative environment.
  • Experience with learning management systems and educational technologies commonly used in post-secondary education.
  • Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, and student success.

Responsibilities

  • Support faculty and teaching staff in designing and delivering effective in-person, online, blended, and technology-enhanced learning experiences.
  • Provide consultations and professional development on teaching, learning, assessment, accessibility, and instructional design.
  • Develop and facilitate workshops, resources, and programming related to inclusive and evidence-informed teaching practices.
  • Support the integration and responsible use of generative artificial intelligence in teaching and learning.
  • Assist faculty with course and assessment design, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and accessibility best practices.
  • Collaborate with academic departments and university partners on teaching and learning initiatives and institutional priorities.
  • Contribute to the development and continuous improvement of online courses, programs, and learning resources.
  • Provide guidance and support related to educational technologies, online pedagogy, and digital learning tools.
  • Support faculty in reflective teaching practice, teaching dossiers, and Scholarship of Teaching and Learning initiatives.
  • Contribute to Teaching & Learning Centre and StFX Online projects, committees, and special initiatives as assigned.
