About The Position

The Manager, Learning and Development, leads the strategy and implementation of professional-credit programs. In close collaboration with the Dean, the incumbent ensures all initiatives remain in strict accordance with the school’s vision to provide workforce-aligned learning throughout the St. Louis region and beyond. The role focuses on creating scalable learning solutions to meet the needs of individuals and organizations seeking personal or professional growth through learning opportunities. The Manager will adeptly lead multiple projects simultaneously, delivering them on time, within budget, and in alignment with diverse learner and organizational needs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in educational technology, instructional design, curriculum design, or a related discipline.
  • Five years of progressively responsible in course design, faculty training, or higher education sales, higher ed solutions, or related experience.
  • Ability to work outside of normal work hours.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Curriculum and Instruction or a related discipline.
  • Seven years progressively responsible experience in course design, faculty training, or higher education sales.
  • Experience with project management and Canvas LMS.
  • Familiarity with professional-credit registration systems (e.g., Destiny One).
  • Demonstrated experience working with confidential projects using discretion and independent judgment.
  • Familiarity with University Information Systems, such as Workday.
  • PMP certification.

  • Proven ability to lead projects from initiation through closure, including managing timelines, resources, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements strategies to ensure educational initiatives remain in strict accordance with the school’s vision to increase knowledge and access through the school’s educational mission.
  • Engages with key stakeholders to gather learning needs, program requirements, timelines, and develop learning as well as strategic outcomes.
  • Collaborates with subject matter experts (SMEs) to develop content and learning experiences across various learning modalities.
  • Ensures course design and materials meet accessibility standards and best practices.
  • Consults with SME and collaborates with colleagues to address challenges regarding the design and delivery of course content, assessments, and learning activities.
  • Develop and perform assessments on courses and instructors to ensure quality guidelines and desired learning outcomes are met.
  • Serves as a subaccount administrator for Canvas LMS (MyCanvas and WU Extended Learning) to support SME, staff, and students.
  • Supports the use of educational technology tools such as Canvas, Panopto, and Zoom.
  • Researches and recommends new instructional design models and use of emerging technologies for potential application.
  • Oversees the delivery of training through digital resources (e-Learning) to provide flexible, scalable learning solutions.
  • Manages the Destiny One (D1) registration and reporting system for all professional-credit courses and professional development certificates.
  • Oversees the learner-centric portal to facilitate external student registrations, payments, and account management.
  • Utilizes D1 administrative tools to set up professional-credit course sections, manage enrollments, and coordinate financial revenue distribution.
  • Generates and analyzes system reports to track enrollment trends, revenue patterns, and program success for professional-credit initiatives.
  • Provides instructor training in platform use and course design.
  • Designs and delivers workshops to inform internal and external audiences on effective use and integration of technology tools.
  • Develops and maintains training materials and documentation on best practices in course instruction and delivery.
  • Supports SME’s by creating and distributing resources for continuous improvement in instructional design and educational technology.
  • Collaborates with colleagues across units to share insights and align strategies, ensuring learning initiatives achieve optimum results through coordinated efforts.
  • As instructed by the Dean, represents the school in university-wide and national discussions focused on online learning and workforce development.
  • Partners with IT and external vendors to ensure technology tools remain operational and integrated.
  • Performs other duties as assigned to support the mission and operational needs of CAPS leadership, staff, and students.
