About The Position

This is an exempt position responsible and accountable for department operations, including fiscal management, quality and service, environment of care and safety, and human resource management. The manager supports and promotes laboratory practices consistent with the organization's vision, mission, goals, and values. The manager is responsible for coordinating day-to-day department operations and managing key process flows within the department. This role facilitates process improvement when necessary and contributes to an environment of high performance expectations, mutual trust, and superior service. A 2-year commitment to the role is required. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship/we will not sponsor or transfer a visa for this role. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F1 STEM OPT extension program.

Requirements

Baccalaureate degree in Medical Technology, Medical/Clinical Laboratory Science, Cytology, Histology, or health/health sciences related field with completion of a clinical laboratory internship.
Five years of experience actively working in a clinical laboratory.
Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
Excellent working knowledge of laboratory regulatory standards.
Knowledge of quality assurance principles and practices.
Ability to be effective in a diverse work group.
Ability to work independently.
Ability to exercise independent judgment and render decisions.
Prioritization and problem solving skills.
Critical thinking skills required.
Computer skills required.
Must be able to demonstrate leadership and project management skills.
Willingness to work at other sites and travel as required.

For foreign trained lab personnel, a detailed equivalency evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicant's expense must be provided.
For international/foreign trained applicants, the applicant is responsible for the cost associated with obtaining the equivalency evaluation.

International transcript must show US equivalent degree.
Evaluation must be completed from an organization listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES) www.naces.org OR the Association of International Credential Evaluators, Inc. (AICE) www.aice-eval.org

Nice To Haves

One to three years management/supervisory experience in a laboratory preferred.
Working knowledge of laboratory information and reporting systems.
Knowledge of CLIA standards.
Experience with operational and troubleshooting of laboratory instruments and assays.
Applicant should possess one of the following; appropriate HHS (Health Human Services) or approved laboratory certification (ASCP or AMT), Medical Technologist, MT (ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Scientist, CLS (ASCP), Medical Laboratory Scientist, MLS (ASCP), Medical Laboratory Technician, MLT (ASCP), Medical Technologist, MT (AMT), Medical Laboratory Technician, MLT (AMT), Histotechnologist, HTL Histotechnician, HT, Cytotechnologist, CT (ASCP).
