Requirements

  • Current professional license in state of practice
  • Licensed MD/DO/DPM and (Certified in anatomic or clinical pathology OR possess 1 year lab training or experience)
  • Possess a Doctoral or Master's Degree in Lab Science AND 1 year lab training or experience
  • Possess a Bachelor's degree in Lab Science or Respiratory Therapy AND 2 years lab training or experience

Responsibilities

  • Having a working knowledge of all areas of laboratory services, including pre-analytical, analytical, and post analytical processes.
  • Ensuring laboratory practice and documentation meets the requirements set forth by CMS, TJC, and State regulatory agencies.
  • Remaining accessible to testing personnel at all times testing is performed to provide on-site, telephone, or electronic support.
  • Providing day-to-day supervision of testing personnel.
  • Monitoring test analytes and specimen examination to ensure acceptable levels of analytic performance are maintained.
  • Fulfilling responsibilities as delegated by the lab director and/or technical supervisor.
  • Resolving technical problems and ensuring corrective actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
  • Ensuring patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
  • Providing orientation, training, and verifying competencies for all testing personnel.
  • Evaluating and documenting the performance of all testing personnel as required.
  • Evaluating and documenting the performance of all individuals responsible for testing upon hire, within six months, at twelve months and then annually thereafter.
  • Enrolling the laboratory in an approved Proficiency Testing program commensurate with services offered.
  • Participating in testing and maintaining acceptable results within procedural guidelines.
  • Establishing a Quality Control Program appropriate for the testing performed, and establishing the acceptable levels of analytic performance, participating in testing, and ensuring these levels are maintained throughout the testing process.
  • Performing and verifying test procedures and establishing the laboratory performance criteria, including accuracy and precision of each test and test system.
  • Following laboratory requirements for daily instrument preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, calibrations, quality controls, and proficiency testing with documentation.
  • Checking and recording Laboratory temperature daily with corrective action plan when temperature deviates from the norm.
  • Maintaining close communication with the lab director and meeting on a routine basis for review of lab practices and results.
  • For ARU locations - Floating between CIRH and IRH units as needed.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
