About The Position

This position covers Free Standing Emergency Departments in Miamisburg, Beavercreek & Jamestown. It is a Full-Time Day Shift (Exempt/Salaried) role focused on leadership and staff management, laboratory operations, quality and compliance, documentation and policy management, education and professional development, safety, and relationship management.

Requirements

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Medical Laboratory Science (MLT/MT) with ASCP registration preferred.
  • 1-3 years of demonstrated success and experience in positions of progressively increasing responsibility in a medical lab environment.
  • Demonstrate integrity and accuracy in decision-making and judgment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and abilities.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work with people.
  • Schedule flexibility required for meetings and employee interactions across all shifts.
  • Sound reasoning ability and good independent judgment.
  • Ability to work within specified deadlines and timetables.
  • Visual acuity and hand–finger dexterity to work at a computer for extended periods.
  • Demonstrates complete integrity and accuracy in test performance and results reporting.
  • Ability to comprehend verbal and written directions.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations in a calm manner.
  • Will have exposure to biohazardous substances and hazardous chemicals.
  • Familiarity with and adherence to the company’s safety, ergonomic, and health policies.
  • Compliance with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.
  • Completion of required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner.
  • Ability to anticipate safety hazards, act on unsafe situations, and promote safety awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direction, supervision, and support laboratory staff in alignment with the organization's mission, vision, and values.
  • Communicate clearly and consistently regarding work assignments, workflow expectations, priorities, and staff responsibilities.
  • Assist in creating and managing work schedules and bench assignments to ensure adequate staffing and competency maintenance.
  • Perform timekeeping and attendance-related duties, including documentation of worked hours, absences, vacation, and leave requests.
  • Participate in the selection, onboarding, training, evaluation, and development of staff.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring, and performance feedback to team members.
  • Administer corrective action and performance improvement plans when necessary.
  • Build and sustain a culture of engaged caregivers.
  • Maintain competency in assigned laboratory disciplines and perform testing duties as needed.
  • Maintain phlebotomy competency when required by location.
  • Participate in technical bench coverage, including weekends and holidays, according to departmental schedules.
  • Troubleshoot technical and operational issues and coordinate resolution efforts.
  • Assist with communication and follow-up with physicians, clients, and other healthcare providers as needed.
  • Manage departmental budgets, expenses, and FTE allocations to ensure alignment with financial and operational objectives.
  • Maintain competency and perform duties of laboratory staff as required.
  • Complete other duties as assigned within the expected timeframe.
  • Assist with quality assurance and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Support departmental compliance activities to ensure adherence to regulatory, accreditation, and company standards.
  • Maintain continual readiness for inspections and accreditation surveys.
  • Participate in root cause analyses and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Ensure completion of required company documentation within established timelines.
  • Assist with the development, review, update, and maintenance of laboratory policies, procedures, and technical documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with document control requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Participate in the training and education of medical laboratory science students, new employees, and existing staff.
  • Assist with oversight of staff competency assessments and professional development activities.
  • Promote ongoing learning and technical excellence within the department.
  • Actively support and participate in departmental and organizational safety programs.
  • Promote a culture of safety and ensure compliance with all safety, infection control, and occupational health policies.
  • Identify and report safety concerns and participate in corrective actions as needed.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with internal departments, physicians, clients, vendors, and external professional organizations.
  • Promote collaborative communication and teamwork across the organization.
