The organization is looking for a strategic and relationship-oriented Manager, IT Contract & Vendor Management to lead the governance, performance, and optimization of its IT vendor portfolio. This position goes beyond traditional contract administration, aiming to serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and influence technology sourcing decisions that align with BC Ferries' long-term transformation objectives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field
  • 5+ years of experience in IT vendor management, contract negotiation, and procurement
  • Proven ability to negotiate complex contracts and interpret legal and commercial terms
  • Strong understanding of enterprise IT vendors and technologies (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, Adobe)
  • Knowledge of regulatory and compliance frameworks (e.g. GDPR, HIPAA, privacy, security, data protection)
  • Experience with procurement processes, RFx development, and vendor evaluation
  • Familiarity with IT service management frameworks and vendor management tools
  • Exceptional stakeholder management, communication, and influencing skills
  • A strategic mindset paired with strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities

  • MBA or relevant graduate degree is considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing the full lifecycle of IT vendor and contract management.
  • Developing vendor strategies.
  • Negotiating complex agreements.
  • Strengthening vendor partnerships.
  • Managing risk associated with IT vendors.
  • Ensuring technology investments deliver maximum value to the business.
  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with IT vendors to ensure alignment with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for IT vendor communications, issue resolution, and escalations.
  • Conducting regular IT vendor performance reviews and providing feedback.
  • Negotiating IT contracts, service level agreements, and pricing structures with vendors to achieve favorable terms, conditions, and cost optimization.
  • Reviewing and analyzing contract terms to ensure compliance with legal, Procurement & Supply Chain, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitoring contract expiration dates and renewal deadlines, proactively managing contract renewals and terminations.
  • Collaborating with internal stakeholders to assess business needs and requirements for IT services and solutions.
  • Leading the vendor selection process in partnership with Procurement & Supply Chain, including vendor evaluation, RFx development, and vendor scoring on behalf of IT.
  • Facilitating the onboarding process for new vendors, ensuring smooth transition and integration into existing IT operations.
  • Identifying and assessing vendor-related risks, including cybersecurity, data privacy, financial stability, and industry factors impacting vendor performance.
  • Developing risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans to address potential vendor disruptions.
  • Establishing key performance indicators and metrics to measure and monitor vendor performance and service quality.
  • Conducting regular performance reviews and audits to monitor vendor compliance and service delivery.
  • Conducting regular internal compliance reviews to ensure adherence to vendor terms and conditions.
  • Implementing corrective actions and continuous improvement initiatives to ensure compliance, enhance performance, and drive customer satisfaction.
