About The Position

The Laboratory Standards Manager is a subject matter expert in Oracle Health PathNet Laboratory Information Systems. They will work closely with corporate and market operations leadership to develop and maintain Laboratory IT standards that align with corporate goals while ensuring patient safety and regulatory compliance. Assists in the creation and maintenance of laboratory IT corporate policy. Assists with demand management and provides input on enterprise the IT roadmap for laboratory. Liaises with market lab operations leadership to prioritize IT Request completion and provide education and training support regarding system changes and new functionality. Supports vendors and market operations with system incident troubleshooting. Supports all market lab operations by ensuring IT regulatory requirements are met. Manages the IS Laboratory team to ensure market IT change requests for laboratory and laboratory charge services are completed in a timely manner. Provides oversight and support for capital projects to ensure Tenet laboratory standards are maintained. Assists in special projects and escalation requests as assigned.

Requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience implementing and maintaining Oracle Health (Cerner) PathNet within a clinical diagnostic laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of operational workflows within the clinical lab to include Anatomic Pathology, Microbiology, Blood Bank and General Lab
  • Experience with implementing and maintaining reference lab catalogs with Quest or LabCorp
  • Knowledge of relevant compliance and regulatory requirements related to Lab Information Systems and Laboratory Clinical Operations
  • Experience with Clinical Decision Support and Laboratory Reflex Rule design and maintenance within Oracle Health (Cerner)
  • Working knowledge of Oracle Health (Cerner) Core, Clinical Reporting, Charge Services and Powerchart and how these solutions impact clinical lab design and maintenance
  • Working knowledge of Cerner management reporting and auditing tools
  • Experience working in an outsourced IT support environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team

  • Bachelor's degree preferred, or equivalent industry experience
  • Experience with clinical laboratory instrument integration and lifecycle management
  • Experience with vendor and contractor management
  • Medical Technologist accreditation
  • Experience working in implementation and maintenance of clinical lab systems within a large IDN
  • Ability to travel around 20%.
  • Selected candidate will be required to pass a Motor Vehicle Records check.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing an automated request queue for all clinical lab IT requests and validating requests for standards adherence and appropriateness.
  • Communication with various Tenet and vendor resources to ensure IT requests are being completed in a timely manner.
  • Strong vendor management skills necessary in order to ensure that support vendors provide deliverables in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Validation of Cerner build will be required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills will be required as documentation of application changes and/or enhancements, knowledge base articles and supporting standards documentation will need to be created, maintained and communicated to market and enterprise leaders.
  • Strong analytical skills are necessary in order to perform integration and unit testing of new Cerner code and/or fixes as required.
  • Participation in Tenet Capital projects to ensure laboratory regulatory and it standards are upheld.
