Manager Information Technology

Floor & Decor•Atlanta, GA
•Onsite

About The Position

Floor & Decor is building a dedicated Application Platforms team to provide software development teams with capabilities to build, deploy, and run applications reliably and securely. As the founding leader, the Manager will set the platform strategy, hire and develop engineers, and build the first generation of services. This is a player-coach role: the manager will initially work hands-on designing pipelines, configuring tooling, and solving problems while establishing the organization’s charter, technology choices, operating model, and culture. The team will develop five platform functions in phases. The initial foundation includes CI/CD tooling and shared pipeline services, pipeline review, and developer tools such as IDEs, testing frameworks, spec-driven development tooling, application frameworks, and security scanning. The next phase adds observability, including monitoring, alerting, and incident response tooling. As the team grows, it will take on runtime services, primarily containers orchestrated on Kubernetes, and integration capabilities such as API management, MCP management, messaging, streaming, SFTP, and ETL. The position is based at Floor & Decor’s Store Support Center in Atlanta and is in-office three days per week (Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday); it is not remote. Limited air and car travel is required. The employee may occasionally encounter a warehouse environment and moving vehicles; noise is typically quiet to moderate. The work is sedentary, involving sitting most of the time with occasional brief walking or standing and the ability to exert 10–20 pounds of force occasionally.

  • Working knowledge of Kubernetes and container-based runtimes.

  • Recruit, hire, and develop a team of platform engineers, including coaching the associate engineer currently on the team.
  • Sequence work across the five platform functions and make build, buy, and partner decisions as capacity grows.
  • Partner with application development leaders to gather requirements and feedback and measure platform adoption and developer experience.
  • Work with Internal Audit and Security to maintain SOX-compliant change and deployment controls without slowing delivery.
  • Manage vendor and tool relationships, including licensing, renewals, and roadmap alignment.
  • Define and track service levels, reliability targets, and costs for platform services.
