About The Position

The Information Technology Manager serves the Division of Recreation and Intercollegiate Athletics (DRIA) at the University of Pennsylvania and reports to the Associate AD/Director of Financial and IT Operations. The role supervises one or more IT Support Specialists and provides technical support for desktop and mobile hardware and software to DRIA coaches and staff. The manager plans and leads hardware lifecycle management and long-term IT/AV infrastructure strategy, partnering with the University’s central IT organization (ISC) to address the division’s technology needs and participating in campus IT governance and advisory groups. The position is responsible for a secure, robust desktop and mobile environment aligned with University policies and standards; support for capital projects and events in DRIA facilities; and specialized technology applications and related AV systems. The manager also develops and maintains DRIA IT policies, processes, best practices, and facility documentation, manages vendor relationships, and communicates IT and AV services and expectations within the division. Onsite support is required for specified athletic games and events, with on-call coverage for other events and venues. Duties may occur outside business hours, including evenings and weekends, to address priority issues and events.

Requirements

Bachelor of Science and 3 to 5 years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Demonstrated customer focus and excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to address and prioritize customer needs in a busy, complex environment.
Previous experience managing technical staff and multiple projects simultaneously.
Relevant experience with Microsoft Windows 10, macOS, and O365.
Familiarity with Dell, Apple, and Android products.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.

Nice To Haves

Experience with Microsoft Teams and VMware Workspace ONE.
Experience in athletics or higher education.

Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day technical support to DRIA coaches and staff.
Supervise one or more IT Support Specialists providing desktop and mobile hardware and software support, and ensure IT, AV, and customer service requests are addressed.
Maintain and manage production hardware and software as part of the DRIA hardware lifecycle.
Lead DRIA’s partnership with the University’s central IT organization (ISC) to address the division’s technology needs.
Engage end users and stakeholders to understand IT/AV needs and inform strategic planning.
Communicate IT and AV services and expectations within the division, develop and maintain DRIA IT policies, processes, and best practices, manage vendor relationships, and stay current on ISC resources and innovations.
Create and maintain IT/AV documentation, standard operating procedures, and system manuals for athletic facilities.
Perform preventative maintenance on venue AV and game operations systems before each season.
Support IT/AV investments in capital projects.
Oversee long-term IT/AV infrastructure strategy and development in DRIA facilities, including troubleshooting, repairs, and planning for DRIA’s connection to University fiber network infrastructure.
Provide onsite IT/AV support for men’s and women’s basketball games, football games, The Penn Relays, and select external events; be on-call for other events and venues.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
