About The Position

The Manager in Training (MIT) is a transitional role designed to prepare candidates for promotion into Retail Store Management. With guidance from the Store Manager, MITs lead by example and develop leadership, customer-service, and operational expertise through hands-on assignments and structured learning opportunities. Training includes key aspects of store operations and AutoZone culture. Candidates who demonstrate consistent progression may be considered for management openings; promotion is performance-based and subject to management availability. Depending on prior experience and performance, progression into management may occur within 8–12 weeks.

Requirements

• 1–2 years of prior experience as a retail manager or supervisor.
• Availability for a full-time flexible schedule, including mornings, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
• Strong people skills and effective communication in both Spanish and English.
• Previous experience in automotive retail or analyzing company financials, such as Profit & Loss statements.

Responsibilities

• Live The Pledge, deliver WOW! Customer Service, and help cultivate a high-performing, engaged store team.
• Maintain clear and effective communication with employees and customers to support store execution and performance.
• Learn to manage, analyze, and reconcile monthly Profit & Loss (P&L) statements to optimize store profitability.
• Support store operations, ensure compliance with policies, and uphold structured training processes.
• Assist with staffing, mentoring, and training employees.
• Lead customer-service activities, provide outstanding customer experiences, and proactively resolve concerns.
• Oversee inventory accuracy, store merchandising, and sales strategies.
• Complete management skills training covering store operations and AutoZone culture.
• Demonstrate consistent progression throughout the training program to be considered for management openings.
