About The Position

The Manager in Training assists the Store Manager with overall store operations and administrative duties, and develops knowledge across all product areas and departments. The role helps determine methods and approaches for accomplishing store goals and initiatives, upholds company policies and standards, and promotes sales and merchandise. As an ambassador for Hibbett | City Gear, the Manager in Training delivers a distinctive customer experience and supports customer acquisition and retention. The position assumes supervisory control when the Store Manager is absent and receives training in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.

Requirements

Experience working in a retail environment; footwear and athletic apparel experience is preferred.
1–3 years of customer service experience.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Ability to assist in managing a team and keep up with overall goals and profits.
Self-starter with initiative to take on important tasks without being asked.
Strong attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and precisely.
Team player passionate about outstanding customer service and selling merchandise.

Nice To Haves

Retail experience, preferably in footwear and athletic apparel.

Responsibilities

Assist the Store Manager in controlling company assets.
Consult with the Store Manager to establish action plans for selling, restocking, merchandising, ordering, scheduling, and other store responsibilities.
Assume responsibility for the entire store in the Store Manager’s absence.
Provide knowledge and guidance to employees and customers across departments.
Monitor inventory, sales statistics, and expenses to support profitability.
Direct staff to ensure departmental responsibilities and standards are completed.
Keep the Store Manager informed about inventory movement and customer trends.
Maintain quality customer service, including assisting customers as they enter and helping multiple customers during peak periods.
Promote and sell company services and merchandise.
Follow company policies, procedures, and standards in the operations, personnel, visual, and customer service manuals, as well as company memos.
Protect company assets and financial information by ensuring effective internal controls and reporting potential fraud risks to management or appropriate officials.
Perform general administrative duties and train in the Store Manager’s responsibilities.
Supervise employees in the Store Manager’s absence, including interviewing and training employees, planning and assigning work, directing work, and resolving problems.
