The Manager in Training (MIT) is a transitional role designed to prepare the employee for promotion into retail store management. The role focuses on leadership training, customer service excellence, and operational expertise through hands-on assignments and structured learning opportunities. Within 8–12 weeks, an MIT could progress into management, depending on prior experience and performance. Promotion is performance-based and subject to management availability; MITs must demonstrate consistent progression throughout the training program to be considered for management openings. Under the Store Manager’s guidance, MITs lead by example and support store performance, team development, customer service, and store operations in keeping with AutoZone’s mission of providing trusted automotive solutions.
