About The Position

The Manager 1, Programs: Certification is responsible for developing NCARB Certificate-related work plans in collaboration with their supervisor, coordinating and executing certificate and certification-related projects and standard operating procedures, and tracking project success to deliver successful outcomes. The position supports both current programs and the creation or evolution of new programs to maximize the value of NCARB products to our stakeholders. They support the Assistant Vice President’s leadership, work collaboratively with colleagues across the Council, and support team members in achieving shared goals and objectives. This position will also support the development of future education-based competency assessments and may engage in support of other education-related programs, escalated customer services, and Member Board support.

Requirements

  • Three or more years of relevant experience in program or project management, stakeholder engagement, certification, training and education, public policy, architectural practice, or similar environments.
  • Project progress tracking experience
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to manage and oversee multiple projects.
  • Demonstrated proficiency using technology and a wide variety of software applications including Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite and Powerpoint.
  • Ability to travel domestically up to 30% of the year including weekends.

Nice To Haves

  • A license to practice architecture in an NCARB Jurisdiction; further, an architect must meet all requirements for the NCARB Certificate.
  • Certification in Association Management or Credentialing, such as ASAE Certified Association Executive, I.C.E. Certified Credentialing Professional, or similar.
  • Degree or certification in an education or training field such as higher education, adult education, educational technology, learning science, educational leadership, or human resource development.
  • Education or experience in public policy or regulation.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate cooperation and teamwork throughout the organization.
  • Provide prompt, courteous, expert, respectful, and responsive customer service to internal and external stakeholders.

  • Contribute to the development of annual and long-range departmental plans.
  • Contribute to the development and management of budgets and resource plans for assigned programs and initiatives.
  • Lead or participate in assigned department- and Council-wide strategic initiatives.
  • Liaise with volunteers, vendors, consultants, and other experts to remain current on best practices in areas of responsibility.
  • Continuously assess the efficiencies of standard operating procedures (SOPs) within areas of responsibility for process improvements.
  • Collaborate on and support research initiatives to investigate technology, best practices, and other trends in education, the assessment industry, and within the profession of architecture.
  • Contribute to the development and management of work plans to support program goals and objectives.
  • Keep supervisor informed of program and project status, progress, risks, and impediments.
  • Lead the coordination of activities across programs and functional areas to support the implementation of initiatives and organizational priorities.
  • Utilize reports, dashboards, and performance metrics to evaluate outcomes and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain program-related resources, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Support team and departmental priorities by providing assistance across programs and functional areas as needed.
  • Assist in maintenance and updates to all program-related stakeholder resources (e.g., Outreach materials, Guidelines, Standards, FAQs, blogs etc.) and cross-department standard operating procedures.
  • Assist in identifying requirements and success criteria to support the development of systems and applications necessary to develop and deliver programs within areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain a proficient level of understanding regarding the technologies used in this position’s areas of responsibility.
  • Maintain a proficient level of understanding of programs’ rules, requirements, and service standards.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on NCARB programs and deliver internal and external training, outreach, and stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Contribute to the development of training, outreach materials, stakeholder resources, and program communications that translate complex information and support diverse audiences.
  • Partner with other departments to provide program expertise and support customers, Member Boards, volunteers, and other stakeholders.
  • Respond to and resolve escalated customer and Member Board concerns in a professional and timely manner; seek guidance on complex issues as needed.
  • Serve as staff liaison to assigned committees, task forces, and workgroups.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with vendors and consultants.
  • Manage contract administration and monitor compliance with contractual requirements, service standards, and program expectations; implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Implement improvements to vendor and consultant performance and service delivery based on program needs and established expectations.
