About The Position

This position supports the overall objectives of Joni and Friends’ Development department, working under the supervision of the Chief Marketing Officer. The role involves developing and executing a grant proposal strategy, fostering relationships with ministry partners, and collaborating with field teams to serve churches and people living with disability. A key responsibility is to grow funding from $2 million to over $5 million dollars annually. The Manager will oversee contract grant writers, manage gift cultivation and data in Salesforce, acknowledge gifts promptly, report on gift impact to foundation partners, and provide monthly progress reports to the CMO. Additional duties include assisting with research, proposal preparation, and report submissions, managing due dates, and collaborating with Development Officers on pre-ask strategies for major events. Other duties and projects as assigned by the supervisor are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • Must possess a vibrant personal relationship with Jesus Christ and agree with the Joni and Friends statement of faith.
  • Desire to serve in a growing and dynamic Christian service ministry.
  • Minimum 2 years of non-profit experience required.
  • Graduate Degree, or equivalent knowledge and experience required.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Ability to effectively organize and prioritize a wide range of daily tasks with varied deadlines.
  • Must be detail oriented, committed to accuracy, and a team player who is flexible and able to work independently.
  • Will need to understand basic CRM systems such as Salesforce.
  • Required to stay current with all state and federal laws regarding planned gifts and estates.
  • Must have a strong sense of confidentiality.
  • Strong general computer skills are necessary along with a competent, working knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Outlook, and the Internet.
  • Modeling Joni and Friends’ Christian beliefs and practices to advance our gospel mission during working hours and nonworking hours.
  • Supporting fellow staff and volunteers at Joni and Friends in following Christ, by praying for each other, sharing Scripture and setting an example of how to live a faithful Christian life.
  • Engaging in the lives of people living with disabilities with love, dignity, and in a manner that commends and proclaims the gospel.
  • Participating or leading in prayer and worship during meetings, events, and outreaches.
  • Affirming the Joni and Friends Statement of Faith annually and not engaging in any conduct or promoting any religious beliefs inconsistent with such beliefs.
  • Upholding and advancing Joni and Friends’ Mission and Vision through a focus on our Values.
  • Actively attending a church that has a statement of faith that does not contradict Joni and Friends’ Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, execute, and manage a successful grant proposal strategy in collaboration with the CMO and Directors.
  • Foster and improve relationships with current ministry partners by intentionally collaborating with internal teams.
  • Maintain excellent relationships with field teams, both domestically and internationally.
  • Collaborate with existing and new funding partners to better serve churches and people living with disability.
  • Grow funding from $2 million to over $5 million dollars annually in collaboration with Development Directors.
  • Oversee and manage a staff of contract grant writers to present grant proposals for over 70 grants per year.
  • Manage cultivation of gifts and data in Salesforce.
  • Thank and acknowledge gifts within 24 hours.
  • Report to foundation partners on the impact of their gifts.
  • Provide monthly progress reports to the CMO.
  • Assist in research, preparing and approving proposals, and reports to granting organizations.
  • Keep records of due dates for proposals and report backs.
  • Work with Development Officers on the strategy and plans for “pre-asks” for major events to increase and lift giving.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned by supervisor to support department and organizational needs.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $73,000 - $85,000 per year.
