About The Position

The Manager, Financial Reporting & Compliance is a key leadership role within the finance function, responsible for ensuring the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of financial reporting across North American operations. This role provides oversight of consolidated reporting processes and acts as the final level of review and control prior to submission to the Group, ensuring compliance with IFRS, Group accounting manual, and any regulatory reporting requirements. The role leads a team and serves as a trusted advisor to both the accounting function and the business, challenging assumptions, validating results, and ensuring alignment with the company’s accounting policies and external reporting requirements, including the review of financial statements and preparation of disclosure notes. This position reports to the Director, Corporate Controller, and also manages a team of finance professionals.

Requirements

  • Professional Accountant (i.e. CPA - CA) with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
  • Minimum of 10 years accounting experience and at least 5 years management level experience in external audit and/or a manufacturing and publicly reported company (an asset).
  • Comprehensive understanding of GAAP, IFRS, and other applicable financial reporting standards.

Responsibilities

  • Review and assist in the completion of the consolidated and individual statutory financial statements, accompanying note disclosures and management commentary to financial statements for all NA legal entities.
  • Lead and manage the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial reporting process for all North American legal entities, including holding companies, submitted to the Group
  • Oversee the consolidation of North American entities, ensuring accuracy, compliance, completeness, and consistency across reporting units
  • Ensure adherence to tight reporting timelines while maintaining high-quality deliverables
  • Ensure accuracy and integrity of financial data through robust controls, reconciliations, and variance analysis, proactively addressing discrepancies.
  • Ensure accurate consolidation data: trial balances, disclosures, commentary, and intercompany eliminations.
  • Review prepared commentary on monthly financial statements by business units and company including key financial results, variances, and trends
  • Challenge both the accounting team and business stakeholders on accuracy of financial results, completeness of accruals and estimates, appropriateness of judgments and assumptions
  • Coordinate with other departments and business units to gather and analyse consolidated financial results, identifying key trends, variances, and insights to support decision-making.
  • Proactively identify inconsistencies, risks, and unusual transactions, ensuring issues are resolved prior to reporting.
  • Ensure proper documentation of any differences between NA local accounting policy and the Global financial statement packages.
  • Maintain and enhance financial reporting controls (including documentation, review processes, and audit readiness)
  • Support internal and external audits by ensuring documentation and explanations are robust and defensible
  • Provide expert guidance on complex and non-routine transactions in close collaboration with the business and Group finance teams, ensuring alignment with accounting standards and organizational objectives.
  • Partner with the Group on the implementation of new accounting standards.
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team responsible for reporting and consolidation activities.
  • Set clear expectations for quality, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, rigor, and professional skepticism.
  • Review the completion of various government forms and industry surveys
  • Support and collaborate with various finance departments to drive organizational and department goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the integrity of chart of accounts mapping between local and group levels, maintaining consistency and accuracy in hierarchies and internal reports.
