About The Position

Centene is seeking a Manager, Ethics & Compliance - Financial Examinations to manage and implement strategies for successful responses to inquiries from state insurance financial examiners across the company. This role involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build relationships and ensure timely responses to examination requests. The position serves as a subject matter expert within the External Audit team, maintaining an archive of prior examination responses and company contacts. Key responsibilities include developing and implementing production and quality standards for the compliance program, managing analysts who track multiple examinations and audits, and evaluating/implementing changes to team functions and performance. The role also involves planning, directing, and coordinating policy implementation, ensuring compliance with the company's strategic plan, and establishing the team's strategic vision and objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, Compliance, Law or related field; or equivalent experience required.
  • 4+ years Compliance experience, preferably in a healthcare environment.
  • 2+ years of Medicaid, Medicare or Commercial Managed Care experience or equivalent experience acquired through accomplishments of applicable knowledge, duties, scope and skill reflective of the level of this position.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's or Juris Doctorate degree preferred.
  • Previous experience demonstrating effective interaction with federal and state regulatory agencies in a managed care or insurance environment preferred.
  • Prior experience with financial examinations conducted by state departments of insurance and familiarity with National Association of Insurance Commissioners standards and procedures for financial examinations preferred, obtained either by experience in the insurance industry or as a state insurance regulator.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement strategies to ensure successful responses to inquiries from state insurance financial examiners across the entire company.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to establish relationships and ensure timely responses to examination requests.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert within the External Audit team on financial examinations.
  • Maintain archive of prior examination responses and company contacts that can be readily retrieved and updated.
  • Develop, implement and maintain production and quality standards for the compliance program with a focus on financial examinations conducted by state departments of insurance.
  • Manage analysts tracking multiple examinations and audits across all of Centene’s licensed insurers, ensuring deliverables are received internally and sent to the examiners timely and accurately.
  • Evaluate and implement changes to team functions and performance in relation to company mission, philosophy objectives and policies.
  • Plan, direct and coordinate the implementation of policy decisions and ensure compliance with the company’s strategic plan.
  • Establish the team’s strategic vision, objectives and attendant policies and procedures.
  • Implement best practices into operations and ensure that department functions are coordinated with other operating departments.
