This position provides senior-level execution support with the Import Compliance function and is primarily engaged in implementation, execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of import compliance process and controls. The role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the practical application of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations to day-to-day operations, projects, and proposals. This role reports to the Director, Import Compliance and supports import compliance activities globally by executing established policies, procedures and controls; providing project execution and proposal support; and contributing to regulatory intelligence and continuous improvement initiatives. The position works closely with the Director, Import Compliance and other members of a high-performing team, as well as cross-functional stakeholders, to ensure import compliance requirements are understood, implemented consistently, and embedded into business process with a strong emphasis on accuracy, documentation, and regulatory discipline.

Requirements

  • Accredited four (4) year degree or global equivalent in a relevant field of study
  • Fourteen (14) years of work-related experience, or a combination of education and directly related experience totaling eighteen (18) years if non-degreed
  • Active U.S. Licensed Customs Broker (required)
  • Demonstrated expertise in U.S. import compliance, CBP regulations, classification, recordkeeping, broker management, and audit support
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, coworkers, vendors, customs authorities, and other stakeholders
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to learn, interpret, and apply applicable local, national, and international import regulations
  • High attention to detail and ability to work in a time-sensitive and deadline-driven environment

Responsibilities

  • Execute and support established Import Compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls under the direction of the Director, Import Compliance
  • Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail when reviewing import documentation, classifications, records, and compliance deliverables
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement related to import compliance execution, documentation, and workflows, and support implementation efforts
  • Promote operational practices that demonstrate reasonable care across all import activities
  • Provide import compliance support for projects and proposals, including early engagement to identify import requirements, compliance risks, and mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with project teams to support compliant import execution for project‑driven imports
  • Support review of project import strategies, documentation requirements, and customs broker coordination
  • Monitor and analyze U.S. customs laws, CBP guidance, binding rulings, and enforcement trends
  • Provide regulatory intelligence and technical guidance to internal stakeholders to support informed business decisions
  • Support preparation and submission of binding ruling requests and responses to CBP inquiries, as assigned
  • Support the selection, onboarding, and periodic evaluation of the Company’s primary Customs House Broker
  • Assist with customs broker performance monitoring, issue resolution, and escalation as appropriate
  • Support interactions with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP), including audits, inquiries, and requests for information
  • Support internal and external import compliance audits, monitoring activities, and self‑audits in accordance with with established plans
  • Support post‑entry transaction reviews and corrective actions, as required
  • Support maintenance of import compliance records in accordance with CBP recordkeeping requirements
  • Provide technical support for tariff classification, country of origin, preferential tariff treatment, and valuation of imported goods and assist with classification reviews and free issue material tracking
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of import compliance practices related to recordkeeping and classification
  • Operate as a collaborative member of an established, high‑performing import compliance team
  • Provide compliance guidance and support to stakeholders involved in import activities
  • Assist with development and maintenance of internal import compliance reference materials and training documentation
  • Participate in compliance‑related meetings, working groups, and initiatives, as assigned
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable Company policies and global standards
  • Adhere to the Company’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability policies
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director, Import Compliance
  • Organize and prioritize multiple complex projects and competing deadlines effectively
  • Analyze situations, identify compliance risks and operational impacts, and recommend or implement appropriate courses of action
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable Company policies, procedures, and global standards
  • Adhere to and support the Company’s Health, Safety & Environmental and Sustainability policies
  • Meet expectations regarding attendance, punctuality, and professionalism
  • May be required to travel to attend to business-related matters
