Manager, Enterprise Technical Consulting

Ramp•New York, NY
•$235,000 - $358,000

About The Position

Ramp’s Technical Consulting team delivers post-sales technical implementations for finance organizations, guiding customers through complex accounting challenges, integrations, and related transformation work. The manager leads the team serving Ramp’s largest and most strategic accounts, owning technical implementation end to end—from discovery and solution design through go-live, adoption, and expansion. The role partners closely with Customer Activation and shares accountability for activation milestones and time-to-value. Strategic customers may have multi-entity structures, legacy ERPs, active finance transformations, procurement and treasury requirements, and executive sponsors who expect a technical leader to guide the work. The team is the final technical escalation point for these accounts. This leader combines delivery operations and team management with the technical credibility to work directly with finance executives on solution design. The role is responsible for growing and developing the team, setting the Strategic delivery model, maintaining delivery quality and timelines, managing capacity and performance metrics, and partnering with customer-facing, product, engineering, sales, and operations leaders. It also brings customer needs back to Product and Engineering and establishes sound practices for decisions in ambiguous, high-stakes situations.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in technical consulting, solutions architecture, implementation, or professional services, with substantial experience on enterprise or strategic accounts.
  • At least 2–3 years managing individual contributors and owning team-level outcomes.
  • Proven experience owning post-sales implementation for large, complex customers, including multi-entity, multi-system, executive-sponsored engagements.
  • Deep familiarity with ERP and financial systems such as NetSuite, Sage Intacct, Oracle, Workday Financials, or Microsoft Dynamics; APIs; SSO/HRIS integrations; and accounting workflows such as charts of accounts, subsidiaries, approval hierarchies, and month-end close.
  • Ability to assess and guide technical solution design for enterprise complexity and distinguish configuration issues from product gaps or customer process issues.
  • Experience building an operating model between functions, such as delivery and onboarding or services and customer success, with effective shared accountability.
  • Executive-grade communication skills, including the ability to work with CFOs or Controllers, advocate internally, and explain technical trade-offs in business terms.
  • Demonstrated judgment in ambiguous situations and a bias toward ownership in a fast-changing, high-growth environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing senior or principal-level individual contributors.
  • Experience at an ERP or financial systems vendor such as Workday, NetSuite/Oracle, Sage Intacct, or Coupa, or in a Big 4 or systems integrator implementation practice.
  • Background in fintech, spend management, or AP automation.
  • Experience establishing or scaling a technical consulting or professional services function from an early stage.
  • Experience managing managers or team leads, or building a career ladder for a technical individual-contributor track.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and grow the Strategic Technical Consulting team, including coaching senior and principal-level consultants and owning hiring, onboarding, performance, and career architecture.
  • Own post-sales technical implementation for Ramp’s largest accounts, with accountability for solution quality, delivery timelines, and technical outcomes.
  • Co-own activation milestones with Customer Activation and establish shared accountability for time-to-value and a coherent customer experience.
  • Serve as the final escalation point for complex technical and delivery challenges, including ERP integration failures, custom API work, at-risk go-lives, and pre-sales commitments that need to be re-scoped.
  • Define the Strategic delivery model, including scoping standards, solution design reviews, rules of engagement with CSM and Activation, staffing and capacity models, and quality standards.
  • Run the function using operational rigor by forecasting capacity, balancing workloads, tracking KPIs, and using data for coaching and planning.
  • Partner with Customer Activation, Strategic CSM and AM, Sales, Product, Engineering, and GTM Ops on roadmap, feedback loops, and segment strategy.
  • Synthesize Strategic customer needs, advocate for them with Product and Engineering, and communicate outcomes back to the field.
  • Make and document sound decisions in ambiguous, high-stakes situations and teach the team to do the same.
