Manager, Enterprise & Integration Architect

Johnson & Johnson Innovative Medicine•New Brunswick, NJ
•$102,000 - $204,000

About The Position

DePuy Synthes is recruiting a Manager, Enterprise & Integration Architect, located in New Jersey. The role is the principal architecture partner to the Chief Architect for defining and governing DePuy Synthes’ target-state enterprise architecture. It connects business capabilities, applications, data, integration, infrastructure, security, and operating-model decisions into a coherent enterprise roadmap, with particular accountability for integration patterns across IT service management, site delivery, shared technology services, and business platforms. The position provides enterprise-wide architecture leadership during the separation from Johnson & Johnson and the establishment of DePuy Synthes as a standalone company. It translates business and technology strategy into target-state views, transition architectures, standards, and prioritized decisions; coordinates domain architects; supports architecture governance; and helps ensure Day 1 and TSA-exit decisions remain aligned with longer-term enterprise direction. The role is part of the Enterprise Architecture function, reports to the Chief Architect, and serves as an architecture partner to assigned Technology Services capabilities. It works across separation, Day 1 readiness, TSA exit, and future-state transformation priorities while functional organizations retain execution accountability. Travel is up to 20%, including occasional international travel, and English proficiency is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Typically 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise, solution, integration, application, or platform architecture, including leadership of complex cross-domain transformations.
  • Demonstrated experience defining target-state architectures, transition roadmaps, reference architectures, and architecture governance.
  • Deep knowledge of integration architecture, including API management, event-driven architecture, messaging, file/batch integration, data integration, and hybrid connectivity.
  • Experience with large application portfolios, ERP and SaaS ecosystems, cloud platforms, ITSM/CMDB, resilience, cybersecurity, and data architecture.
  • Ability to evaluate complex options, communicate trade-offs to executives, and convert decisions into actionable standards and roadmaps.
  • Strong stakeholder management and facilitation skills across business, engineering, operations, security, and external partners.
  • Enterprise mindset and ability to balance strategic direction, delivery realities, risk, cost, and business value.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority across senior business, product, engineering, operations, cybersecurity, data, and supplier stakeholders.
  • Clear communication of complex architecture decisions through concise options, trade-offs, recommendations, and decision records.
  • Collaborative leadership style that develops reusable standards and enables teams rather than creating architecture bottlenecks.
  • Sound judgment in a regulated medical technology environment, with disciplined attention to security, privacy, quality, resilience, and compliance.
  • English proficiency.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%, including occasional international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Co-own with the Chief Architect the integrated current-state, transition-state, and target-state enterprise architecture and the roadmap between them.
  • Define enterprise integration strategy and reusable patterns for APIs, events, batch/file exchange, data movement, master data, partner connectivity, and application-to-application interoperability.
  • Establish interoperability architecture principles and standards across ITSM, site delivery, ERP, commercial, supply chain, manufacturing, quality, regulatory, data, AI, cybersecurity, and Technology Services.

  • Assess major programs and platform proposals, identify cross-domain impacts, develop options and trade-offs, and provide evidence-based recommendations to senior leaders.
  • Ensure separation, Day 1 readiness, and TSA-exit designs account for interfaces, data flows, identity, security, infrastructure, operational support, resilience, and decommissioning dependencies.
  • Create and maintain reference architectures, enterprise blueprints, roadmaps, standards, and reusable decision templates in the designated EA repository.
  • Coordinate architecture alignment across domain architects and functional leaders while preserving execution accountability within the owning organizations.
  • Coach architects and solution teams in architecture methods, modeling, documentation, and stakeholder communication.
  • Contribute to architecture review boards, reference architectures, standards, roadmaps, exception management, technology risk, and technical-debt decisions.
