About The Position

The Integration Architect shapes the strategy, standards, target-state architecture, and governance for secure, scalable, resilient, and reusable integration across the US Segment. The role provides architectural leadership across APIs, services, events, messaging, streaming, batch, and hybrid integration, helping teams connect systems and exchange data consistently while reducing duplication and technical debt. Working within the Domain Architecture team, the architect establishes reusable patterns, guides critical design decisions, improves visibility across the integration landscape, and helps delivery teams adopt interoperable, cloud-aligned solutions. The role influences integration strategy and modernization across a complex technology environment while remaining connected to solution design and delivery outcomes.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise-grade integration solutions, typically gained through 8+ years of relevant experience or equivalent demonstrated expertise.
  • Progressive experience in integration, solution, or domain architecture, including responsibility for architecture strategies, roadmaps, standards, reference architectures, and reusable patterns.
  • Experience with one or more enterprise integration platforms or services, such as MuleSoft, Azure Integration Services, Kafka, Azure Event Hubs, Informatica IICS, enterprise service bus technologies, Azure Data Factory, or comparable technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience designing enterprise integration solutions using APIs and services, event-driven architecture, messaging, streaming, batch, middleware, and cloud integration patterns.
  • Strong knowledge of API architecture, management, and governance; REST and SOAP services; API contracts; asynchronous messaging and publish-subscribe patterns; microservices; and common interoperability standards.
  • Working knowledge of integration security patterns and standards, including OAuth 2.0, OpenID Connect, and SAML.
  • Experience assessing integration platforms and capabilities, identifying gaps and technical debt, and translating findings into target-state architectures and practical, sequenced modernization roadmaps.
  • Experience reviewing solution designs, documenting architecture decisions, and guiding teams through architecture standards, exceptions, and remediation.
  • Knowledge of cloud and hybrid integration architecture and related delivery considerations, including CI/CD, security, resilience, monitoring, logging, tracing, and observability.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to create clear architecture artifacts and explain complex technical decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, Infrastructure as Code, containers, Kubernetes, scripting, automation, and platform engineering practices.
  • Experience modernizing legacy integration environments and introducing API-first, event-driven, cloud-native, automation-enabled, or operationally resilient integration patterns.
  • Experience in additional integration areas such as mainframe, COTS or SaaS integration, external partner or B2B connectivity, data integration, or AI-enabled integration patterns.
  • Experience working in a large, complex, or highly regulated organization, such as financial services, insurance, banking, wealth management, retirement, or another regulated industry.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

  • Define and evolve the Integration Domain strategy, principles, standards, guardrails, reference architectures, and target-state patterns in alignment with business priorities and enterprise architecture direction.
  • Develop multi-year integration roadmaps connecting business strategy, modernization priorities, technology investments, and architecture direction.
  • Design and guide enterprise integration solutions spanning APIs and services, event-driven and batch integration, messaging and streaming, cloud and SaaS platforms, legacy modernization, data integration, and external partner connectivity.
  • Establish and maintain a catalogue of reusable integration patterns, including synchronous APIs, asynchronous messaging, event-driven, streaming, and batch patterns, with guidance on their appropriate use.
  • Promote API-first, event-driven, and cloud-native approaches, embedding security, automation, operational resilience, and observability in solution design.
  • Maintain architecture visibility across critical integration interfaces, dependencies, technology lifecycles, and technical debt using LeanIX or other approved enterprise repositories where appropriate.
  • Provide architecture governance by reviewing solution designs, documenting Architecture Decision Records, assessing exceptions, and guiding solution architects and delivery teams toward consistent outcomes.
  • Evaluate emerging integration technologies, platforms, vendor solutions, and AI-assisted engineering capabilities; provide recommendations and identify modernization opportunities.
  • Partner with application, data, security, cloud, infrastructure, platform engineering, solution architecture, technology delivery, and business teams to resolve cross-domain dependencies and translate strategic priorities into executable integration capabilities.
  • Conduct architecture quality reviews, provide reusable guidance and mentoring, and communicate complex integration decisions and trade-offs to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
