About The Position

Garner is seeking an exceptional Engineering Manager to join their Business Productivity team. This role will report to the VP of Platform Engineering. The team is responsible for improving the efficiency of internal lines of business by embedding AI into their core workflows. The company's mission is to transform the U.S. healthcare system by partnering with employers to redesign how healthcare works, identifying the best-performing doctors using proprietary clinical metrics and patient data, and steering members to the best care through incentives. Garner has helped over 2.5 million people access higher-quality care and saved $1B in healthcare costs, recently raising its Series E funding and doubling in size for five consecutive years. This role offers an opportunity to solve a problem that impacts every person in the country by fundamentally reimagining healthcare in the U.S. and scaling impact with AI.

Requirements

6+ years of hands-on engineering experience
2+ years managing engineering teams
Experience building web applications and APIs on cloud infrastructure (AWS or similar)
Strong sense of ownership and proactive problem-solving mindset
The ability to partner with non-technical business stakeholders and translate their workflows into effective technical solutions
Experience thriving in a startup or other fast-moving, high-accountability environment
A desire to be a part of a high-performing, mission-driven team that operates with intense urgency, a strong sense of individual accountability, and a commitment to authentic feedback

Responsibilities

Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing engineering team through coaching, authentic feedback, and hiring
Partner closely with internal business units to identify high-leverage opportunities and ship features end-to-end that deliver measurable employee productivity gains
Drive the delivery of AI-native solutions
Own core services and ensure secure, high-quality, and reliable experiences in a fast-moving environment
Balance quality with delivery speed, identify bottlenecks, and clearly communicate tradeoffs across engineering, product, and business stakeholders
Set technical direction across the team’s roadmap and its three bets: AI adoption, employee efficiency, and foundational improvements
