About The Position

The Apple Foundation Models team is looking for a manager for the engineering program manager (EPM) team responsible for Engineering Tools. You will lead a team of Program Managers to drive infrastructure & tools for training, evaluation and deployment of Foundation Models and Apple Intelligence features across Apple products. In this role, you will manage a team of Engineering Program Managers who drive large, cross-functional infrastructure & tools programs in the AI/ML space. This requires partnering with engineering management to facilitate all aspects of projects: define, schedule, prioritize, track, proactively manage and communicate status of projects. Your team will lead efforts that bring together multiple machine learning modeling technologies as well as other cross-functional partners in areas such as software engineering, infrastructure, data collection, evaluation and other organizations within Apple.

Requirements

• BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field.
• At least 1 year managing a team of program managers.
• At least 5 years of experience in project or program management, leading cross-functional software engineering teams in large organizations.
• Comfortable structuring new programs and leading multiple work streams independently.
• Solid understanding of system architecture, design trade-offs with thorough understanding of testing, build and release processes for complex software or machine learning tools.
• Proven ability to lead, influence, and resolve conflicts within large, complex teams.
• Must demonstrate analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a product mentality.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including presentation, negotiation, and the ability to communicate abstract ideas clearly.
• Prior experience in hands-on software development or machine learning.
• Excellent collaboration skills, working together with different teams, and fostering trust.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment.
• Curiosity and passion for new technologies, and proven ability to quickly understand technical concepts.

Responsibilities

• Partner with engineering management to facilitate all aspects of projects: define, schedule, prioritize, track, proactively manage and communicate status of projects.
• Lead efforts that bring together multiple machine learning modeling technologies as well as other cross-functional partners in areas such as software engineering, infrastructure, data collection, evaluation and other organizations within Apple.
• Drive projects forward, prioritize work, facilitate the removal of obstacles and escalate risks.
• Build strong collaborative relationships and calmly manage any associated conflicts.
• Be responsible for successful outcomes and delivery, driving projects with a keen eye for important details and communicating clearly on status and risks.
