About The Position

Manage controls related product development, documentation, and implementation as well as supporting operations/production needs for the following functional areas: Powered Levelers and Restraint product lines, HVLS, Commercial, and Direct Drive Fans, Control Panel Systems, and System Software and HMI Programming.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and/or Electrical Engineering Technology.
  • 5-7 years of engineering-related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Advanced/Intermediate experience with industry drafting and CAD standards.
  • Experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical and AutoLisp.
  • Basic programming skills including PLC, SCADA and HMI.
  • Significant “hands on the product” type experience with ability to recognize problems, predict potential outcomes, and implement countermeasures quickly enough to avoid problems.
  • Ability to use a personal computer utilizing spreadsheet and word processing software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Advanced/Intermediate skill level with Microsoft Office Suite; Word, Excel, Project, and PowerPoint.
  • Professional engineering licensure
  • Ability to lead an engineering project.
  • Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools.
  • Advanced/Hands on approach to problem solving and analysis.
  • The ability to develop, coordinate, and manage multiple concurrent projects.

  • Excellent electrical and mechanical aptitude/troubleshooting skills, and the ability to read engineering drawings.
  • The ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist.
  • Maintains thorough knowledge and understanding of each customer’s specifications, standards, and other engineering requirements.
  • Solid understanding of Lean, 5S, DOE, Six Sigma and other process improvement tools in order to move the organization into a more competitive position.
  • Requires independent judgment and discretion with project framework for planning, organization, control, integration and completion of projects and company objectives.
  • General understanding and working knowledge of manufacturing, assembly, sewing, and welding equipment and tooling including design, gauges, equipment design, automation, robotics, or manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of material types specifications and characteristics used in dock levelers, dock seals & shelters, impactable dock doors, high speed and high-performance doors, and other entrance automation products and warehouse solutions.
  • Thorough understanding of company product, trade terminology, quality management and control systems and techniques, manufacturing processes including material controls, workflow, scheduling, just-in-time/pull system, machine operation, and company policies as standards.
  • Requires a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and the ability to operate a motor vehicle while carefully observing all traffic rules and regulations.
  • Requires the ability to use a variety of office/production related equipment such as a telephone, photocopier, facsimile machine, and precision measuring instruments.

  • Experience working in production operations in a leadership role is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate new product development efforts using 4Front specifications utilizing the gateway process.
  • Establish and manage revision control for HMI programming and software of designed systems.
  • Lead Controls related VA/VE projects for Carrollton and Reynosa business units.
  • Manage Electrical Process Control Plan (PCP) efforts related to functional areas listed above.
  • Steer generational planning of product lines, focusing on technological advancement of the equipment.
  • Establish rollout plans and implement with operations team.
  • Prepare presentations for customers both internal and external.
  • Train and lead team personnel.
  • Works closely with Product Managers for design implementation and improvements.
  • Manage development and engineering scheduling regarding designs for both standard and master/combo panels including schematic drawings, bills of material, and wiring tables.
  • Support the development of manuals with aid of entire staff specifically around electrical installation and troubleshooting.
  • Seek opportunities to take cost out of designs and improve overall quality and competitiveness.
  • Collaborate with engineering members from other business units to provide assistance and share best practices.
  • Interface with internal teams and distributors to explain product functionality and troubleshooting techniques for operation and maintenance of 4Front equipment.
  • Troubleshoot both remotely and on site when issues arise with product installations.
  • Manage information between departments - including engineering, purchasing, production and scheduling.
  • Travel to job sites for implementation and training as required for project needs.
