At BNSF Railway, the Human Resource & Medical Department is dedicated to recruiting top talent, fostering employee development, and ensuring the health and well-being of our employees. This is a full-time position located in Fort Worth, TX. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs. The Employee Assistance Program is under the Medical and Employee Health Department’s domain and is managed by the Director of Employee Assistance Program and supported by Field Medical Managers and corporate medical staff, directors, nurses, and physicians. Travel is required, up to 25%. Pre-planned regional travel of 1-5 days related to staff meetings, safety meetings, health fairs, training, or other business functions. Some of these meetings can also be virtual. Occasional, non-routine last-minute overnight travel for 1-4 days to provide in-person Critical Incident Response services to employees and leaders.

Requirements

• Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
• Master's degree in clinically related field and licensed for independent clinical practice (Social Work, Mental Health, Professional Counselor).
• Minimum 5 years of clinical experience and/or EAP experience.
• CEAP (Certified Employee Assistance Professional) and SAP (Substance Abuse Professional) certified or eligible.
• Proficient in assessing mental health and substance use disorders and making appropriate referrals
• Presentation and training skills; written and verbal skills
• Experience in psychological first aid and post-traumatic growth
• Above-average computer and electronic case management skills
• Ability to collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team of physicians, nurses, Field MEH Directors and Managers, Corporate Medical Support professionals, and Field Wellness Personnel to design return-to-work/stay-at-work strategies for BNSF employees
• Proficient in building working relationships, diffusing and resolving conflict, and consensus building
• Knowledge of the interface between medical/behavioral health conditions and the workplace as well as behavioral health care delivery systems
• Must be knowledgeable of the Americans with Disability Act, and the Family Medical Leave Act

Nice To Haves

• Five (5) years of experience in substance abuse and/or psychiatric treatment settings that include inpatient, partial, and/or intensive outpatient treatment, preferably performing intake assessments and level of care determinations
• Crisis intervention and critical incident response experience, including on-scene stabilization, employee/leader education, and follow-up care coordination to restore functioning and promote return to routine operations.

Responsibilities

• Consult, train, and assist leadership (managers, supervisors, and union officials) in supporting employees experiencing personal or workplace challenges, enhancing the work environment, and improving employee job performance.
• Actively promote the availability of Employee Assistance services to employees and the work organization.
• Conduct initial assessment and referral, and case management, including employees subject to 49 CFR part 240, part 242, 272, 219, and other regulatory or company requirements.
• Manage client caseload with professionalism and proficiency utilizing electronic case management software.
• Oversee project management of Subject Matter Expert (SME) roles as assigned.
• Collaborate with union and field leaders, human resource managers, independent providers and treatment facilities, and other internal and external entities.
• Perform return to work planning, including case presentation staffing and collaboration with an interdisciplinary medical team.
• Develop workplace substance use prevention strategies and client relapse prevention plans.
• Deliver workplace critical incident support services as needed in response to disruptive events.
• Work cooperatively with labor and management to recruit, select and train union employees to be Peer Volunteers in support of BNSF’s Critical Incident Response program as well as recruiting union volunteers for BNSF’s Operation Stop program for alcohol and drug education and prevention.
• Engage in provider recruitment and development of best practice care for referrals.
• Develop business relationships that promote influence within the Division and across the BNSF System.
• Deliver group training and presentations such as DOT Drug and Alcohol Signs and Symptoms training, New Hire and Department specific Orientation to EAP resources, Peer Support and Operation Stop volunteer training, Resilience training, and other relevant training specific to department and industry needs.
• Occasional telephonic on call rotations for after-hours 24/7 call center emergencies
