About The Position

At BNSF Railway, the Human Resource & Medical Department is dedicated to recruiting top talent, fostering employee development, and ensuring the health and well-being of our employees. This is a full-time position located in Minneapolis, MN. For certain positions, including this one, employees can work one day per week remotely. Relocation assistance may be available based on business needs. Travel is 25% on the Twin Cities division. We are seeking a results-driven Human Resources Manager/Director to join our team, supporting the Twin Cities Division. The HR Manager/ Director will be responsible for timely employment and placement of quality new hires and internal candidates for union and exempt positions in a cost-effective manner to meet operational demands and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills and have the ability to build strong relationships across a diverse population and at all levels of the organization, functioning as an employee advocate and management agent.

Requirements

  • Able to work in the US without company sponsorship now AND in the future.
  • Manager, HR: minimum 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Director, HR: minimum 6 years of experience in Human Resources, or a related field.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Self-directed and motivated
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office - Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Prior experience in employee relations, recruitment, and hiring selection
  • Comprehensive knowledge of all federal and applicable state employment laws
  • Ability to efficiently manage multiple tasks concurrently
  • High degree of integrity in handling confidential information

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources or Business related field.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement effective recruiting strategies to attract quality candidates for union and exempt positions
  • Conduct interviews and selection of candidates for hire/promotion
  • Investigate and resolve hotline calls, internal complaints, and EEOC/State agency charges in a thorough manner
  • Prepare materials and present training to diverse employee groups on various human resources and benefits topics
  • Proactively anticipate employee concerns and work with department leaders on resolution and handling
  • Provide career mentoring and counseling for employees in conjunction with leadership
  • Facilitate and execute various projects to improve processes and meet departmental needs
  • Respond to employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and other HR-related functions
  • Multi-task in a fast-paced environment, adapting to rapidly changing priorities
