About The Position

The Manager of Data Practices for Wealth Management is responsible for contributing to a comprehensive data governance program that ensures the integrity, accuracy, and reliability of data across the organization. By partnering across business, technology, legal, and compliance functions, the manager embeds controls into data pipelines and operations, enabling trusted data for decision-making and strategic execution. Leveraging advanced technologies—including AI and Machine Learning—the role also focuses on automating anomaly detection, enhancing issue prediction, and optimizing business processes. Ultimately, this position champions a culture of data excellence, governance, and continuous improvement to support the evolving needs of Wealth Management.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years in a combination of knowledge, skill and background in either operational risk practices, audit or compliance functions, securities operations within one or more businesses in WM or comparable business.
  • Excellent knowledge of Wealth Management and RBC’s products, processes and organization.
  • Knowledge of Data Governance disciplines (metadata, lineage, Data quality, controls, data observation).
  • Exposure to data cataloging or governance tools such as Collibra or Informatica.
  • Ability to deal effectively with senior managers and multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills, and ability to present information effectively.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Confluence or similar collaboration and documentation platforms.
  • Familiarity with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, Azure, AWS).
  • Knowledge of Data Governance disciplines would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of AI would be an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Support WM Global data domain model implementation throughout RBC by collaborating with stakeholders on the roll-out and adoption, especially by being a first mover in non-chartered processes.
  • For prioritized Critical Data Elements (CDEs), collect metadata, Data Quality rules, Data quality executables for all data domains across WM Canada.
  • Resolve data observation issues escalated from Business and Functional areas.
  • Work with business stakeholders and partners to embed data management and governance practices into their daily operations and implement the various CDO frameworks.
  • Establish strong working relationships across business units and platforms to build influence and impact with key business partners.
  • Gather stakeholder feedback and surface insights to senior team members to inform communication strategy.
  • Support change management activities for business processes and policy adoption programs.
  • Collaborate with groups to ensure business initiatives are addressing data governance requirements and effectively leveraging data governance capabilities.
