About The Position

Cintas is seeking an Employment Practices Counsel to provide in-house legal services to the company, with a particular emphasis on labor and employment practices. This role helps the corporate office manage employment matters and achieve appropriate resolutions in a cost-effective and efficient manner. The position provides leadership and consultation to location management on the development of positive employment practices and consistent execution of corporate policies. The job holder works under the general supervision of the Deputy General Counsel.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor Degree
  • Admitted to a state bar
  • Minimum 2 years full-time relevant legal experience
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to travel extensively and on short notice
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook) and intranet/internet

Responsibilities

  • Consulting with management on policy interpretation and compliance issues including but not limited to performance management, disciplinary processes, legal inquiries, and general employment law.
  • Serving as escalation support and liaison between field management and Deputy General Counsel.
  • Delivering training for supervisors, managers, and HR staff on topics to include: Corporate Policies, investigations, maintaining positive employment practices, and various employment law topics including but not limited to the ADAAA, FMLA, ADEA, and Title VII.
  • Working collaboratively with Labor Relations Counsel and field operations on the interpretation of collective bargaining agreements.
  • Conducting employment practices audits and investigations at field locations as directed and providing a written summary of audits with recommendations and next steps provided to location management and executives.
  • Using preventative measures such as proactive involvement, early identification, and resolution of potential issues/disputes to manage and minimize risk and to increase the effectiveness of services.
