Netflix is recruiting for a Manager, Licensing. Based in our Los Angeles office, the Manager will be a key member of the content licensing team, focusing on licensing content from content creators, podcasters, independent distributors and publishers for the global Netflix service. They will hold a pivotal role in supporting Netflix’s growth in new content verticals, pursuing and evaluating new creator and podcast opportunities, negotiating and executing deals, and supporting in crafting and iterating of content strategies, all with the goal of delivering best in class licensed content to Netflix subscribers. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong critical thinking skills, balancing an intense attention to detail with the ability to grasp the broader strategic vision. Mastery of both verbal and written communication is essential for leading meetings, delivering presentations to all organizational levels, negotiating deals, and managing external relationships. The Manager, Licensing & Partnerships must thrive in a fast-paced environment – showing initiative, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and effectively prioritizing between immediate deadlines and long-term objectives. They should have a sophisticated understanding of the evolving media landscape and be passionate about emerging mediums.

Requirements

  • BA/BS required, MBA preferred but not required.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of work experience is required.
  • Experience in a studio, management consulting, talent agency, creator/podcast company or media-focused technology role is preferred.
  • Highly analytical and fluent in complex quantitative and qualitative analysis.
  • Exceptional proficiency with MS Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated expertise in complex negotiations, thorough redlining and a strong understanding of legal contracts.
  • Deep expertise of podcasts, emerging content formats and business models, and the creator economy
  • Ability to influence stakeholders and present effectively to executives and senior management.
  • Ability to develop and cultivate internal and external relationships, representing Netflix’s best interests and exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new opportunities with top creators, podcasters and companies, overseeing the entire partner deal life cycle from sourcing and pitching talent, leading negotiations and overseeing the partnership launch.
  • Oversee all aspects of negotiation, including collaborating with strategy teams in the financial analysis and forecasting process, while also drafting and redlining contracts, liaisoning with cross-functional teams to optimize deal structures, and helping with launch support.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, strategy, finance, product, marketing, operations) across the company regularly, representing the team’s interests in deal launches and ad-hoc projects.
  • Continuously develop market expertise through tracking of the competitive environment (including emerging talent and industry trends), working to ensure implications are well incorporated into programming strategies.
