We are looking for candidates who want to join us on our journey! This position plays a pivotal role in shaping and executing Trimac’s compensation & classification strategy across North America. The Manager, Compensation & Classification ensures compensation programs are competitive, equitable, and aligned with the organization’s pay-for-performance philosophy and business objectives. We are seeking a strategic and collaborative Manager, Compensation & Classification to lead the design, implementation, and governance of enterprise compensation programs. This role will focus on ensuring compensation & classification practices support performance, attract and retain talent, and remain compliant with regulatory and pay equity requirements.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated business and financial acumen with the ability to align compensation strategy with organizational objectives.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex compensation data and provide clear recommendations.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to achieve stakeholder alignment across leadership levels.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, with experience analyzing compensation data.
  • Ability to critically evaluate solutions and recommend approaches that balance market competitiveness, internal equity, and business needs.
  • Self-motivated with strong decision-making and strategic thinking abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • 8+ years of progressive compensation experience, preferably within a North American organization.
  • Experience managing enterprise compensation programs including merit cycles, incentive plans, and salary structures.
  • Strong analytical capability and experience working with salary surveys and compensation benchmarking tools.
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A high degree of professional judgment, discretion, and emotional intelligence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, implementation, and ongoing management of company-wide compensation programs including annual merit increases, short-term incentive plans (STIP), long-term incentive plans (LTIP), and salary structures.
  • Support and operationalize the organization’s pay-for-performance philosophy, ensuring clear linkage between performance outcomes and compensation decisions.
  • Partner with senior leadership to ensure compensation programs align with business strategy and organizational priorities.
  • Establish and govern clear compensation & classification processes and ensure consistent application across the organization.
  • Support Mergers & Acquisitions from a compensation and classification perspective
  • Conduct compensation benchmarking and market analysis using salary surveys and external data sources to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Lead regular salary band reviews and job architecture alignment to maintain internal equity and external competitiveness.
  • Provide strategic guidance on job offers, promotions, and complex compensation decisions.
  • Ensure compensation programs comply with North American regulatory requirements, including pay equity legislation and transparency standards where applicable.
  • Monitor and analyze compensation practices to ensure internal equity and fairness across the organization.
  • Maintain job architecture and governance frameworks, policies, and documentation related to compensation programs.
  • Partner closely with People & Culture leadership, Finance, and business leaders to support compensation planning, budgeting, and workforce strategy.
  • Provide guidance and education to leaders on compensation philosophy, pay decisions, and program adoption.
  • Lead or mentor compensation team members were applicable and support broader People & Culture initiatives.
