Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in commercial, market, or credit risk (commodity trading or asset-based environments preferred)
  • Strong understanding of physical/financial commodity markets and commercial economics
  • Proven ability to analyze and communicate risk exposure, hedge performance, and credit risk
  • Experience supporting the full trade lifecycle from execution through settlement
  • Ability to operate independently within a front-office commercial environment
  • Strong judgment and confidence to provide independent risk challenge
  • Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead commercial risk oversight with strong independent judgment and decision-making
  • Conduct credit risk assessments, counterparty analysis, and manage credit exposure (including PFE and concentration risk)
  • Oversee trade lifecycle governance, ensuring compliance, accurate trade capture, confirmations, and contract integrity
  • Partner with trading and commercial teams to balance risk and return through scenario analysis, stress testing, and sensitivity modeling
  • Evaluate and monitor market risk, including NOP, MtM, hedge ratios, basis exposure, and hedging effectiveness
  • Implement and assess risk mitigation strategies (collateral, guarantees, letters of credit) and their economic impact
  • Ensure pricing and commercial decisions reflect risk-adjusted returns, including credit, hedging, and capital costs
  • Administer and enhance Credit Policy, including credit reviews, limit setting, and counterparty evaluation processes
  • Ensure adherence to trading limits, approvals, and delegation of authority; coordinate issue resolution across key stakeholders (Commercial, Operations, Accounting, Treasury)
  • Support financial modeling and valuation for acquisitions and commercial investments, incorporating downside scenarios and risk factors
  • Identify execution, integration, and control risks across systems, processes, and counterparties
  • Provide independent challenge to investment assumptions and commercial decisions
  • Maintain and enhance risk, hedging, credit, and compliance frameworks and policies
  • Support executive risk governance, escalation forums, and investment reviews
  • Serve as a key resource during business continuity events, preserving and transferring institutional knowledge
