About The Position

The Manager, Cloud Operations will determine requirements for secure, reliable, cost-effective, and performant cloud environments for CORA Legal Group cloud products. This role involves managing the production deployment of CORA Legal Group cloud applications and services, prioritizing tasks, and setting direction for Cloud Operations team members. The manager will collaborate with R&D management to build monitoring and alerting platforms, ensure cloud systems are backed up, highly available, documented, and secure, and gather baseline performance information. They will also establish chains of custody and reporting/handoff procedures for bugs and incidents, work with leadership to maintain SOC2 certifications, establish cloud security procedures, perform risk assessments, and supervise penetration testing. Proactive creation and testing of remediation plans, continuous process improvement using AI tools, and clear communication of status and escalation of issues are key. The role also includes advocating for Cloud Operations staff, identifying growth opportunities, recommending promotions, and building a culture of continuous growth and improvement within the organization.

Requirements

  • A track record of success in management of cloud architectures, including Azure and AWS
  • Significant experience in managing a team to oversee production cloud environments; strong team-building skills
  • Experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
  • Hands-on expertise in technology infrastructure including networking, compute, storage, and virtualization/containerization technologies
  • Excellent understanding of the architectural principles of cloud-based platforms (SaaS, PaaS, and IaaS)
  • Significant experiencing building and maintaining cloud infrastructure with IaC tools such as Terraform and Cloud Formation
  • Demonstrated experience with AI technologies, including usage of AI tools to generate and maintain CI/CD pipelines and enhance reporting/monitoring capabilities
  • Solid understanding of common software and application vulnerabilities, along with the ability and judgment to make quick decisions when necessary to mitigate risk and impact
  • Expertise in automating infrastructure, configuration and deployments
  • Significant experience with Application Performance Monitoring platforms such as New Relic or Datadog
  • Knowledge of a modern programming or scripting language (Python, Go, C#, Ruby, PowerShell, etc.)
  • Keen interest in DevOps methods and technologies (Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Git, Puppet, Chef, Jenkins, etc.)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Very strong time management and analytical skills
  • A positive, diplomatic, and professional demeanor; high emotional intelligence

Nice To Haves

  • Significant experience with SOC2 and similar certifications or regulatory requirements, such as ISO 27001 and/or GDPR
  • Experience with compliance platform such as Druva, Vanta, or Secureframe

Responsibilities

  • Determine requirements for secure, reliable, cost-effective, and performant cloud environments for CORA Legal Group cloud products
  • Manage production deployment of CORA Legal Group cloud applications and services
  • Prioritize tasks and set direction for Cloud Operations team members
  • Collaborate with R&D management to build monitoring and alerting platforms using mutually determined KPIs
  • Ensure that cloud systems are backed up, highly available, documented, and secure
  • Gather baseline performance information and establish related alerting mechanisms
  • Establish chains of custody and reporting/handoff procedures for bugs and incidents
  • Maintain existing SOC2 certifications and ensure that SOC2 requirements are continually met
  • Establish cloud security procedures; perform routine risk assessments and supervise periodic penetration testing
  • Proactively create and test remediation plans for anticipated issues
  • Continuously streamline and strengthen processes and capabilities using appropriate AI tools
  • Continually communicate status and promptly escalate issues to the appropriate team and department leaders
  • Act as advocate for Cloud Operations staff by identifying opportunities for future growth, recommending promotions, etc.
  • Build a culture of continuous growth and improvement within the Cloud Operations organization
