About The Position

Senior Services at Peel Region is dedicated to enhancing quality of life for older adults through compassionate, equitable, and client-centred care, delivering long-term care and community-based supports. Peel Region is the lead agency for the Behavioural Supports Ontario (BSO) Program in the Central West region. The BSO Program provides specialized, person-centred supports to older adults experiencing or at risk of responsive behaviours associated with dementia and/or other mental health conditions, as well as supports to families and care partners. As the Manager, Central West BSO Program, this role involves leading a team of seven direct reports and providing strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for BSO services across the region. This includes close collaboration with Ontario Health Central, the BSO Provincial Coordinating Office, system partners, and Senior Services leadership.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a Health-related field and a minimum of 5 year's experience in the health services sector or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5 years management expertise and experience working in a unionized environment.
  • Expert knowledge of legislation supporting health services delivery, particularly within the Senior Services sector.
  • Demonstrated understanding of health systems, interdepartmental relationships, community resources, and current issues affecting communities.
  • Extensive expertise in program, project, and portfolio management, including change management and strategy development and execution.
  • Advanced knowledge of performance measurement, evaluation, and quality and process improvement methodologies.
  • Experience mentoring, coaching, and supporting multidisciplinary teams.
  • Budget management experience and well-developed computer and analytical skills.
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, modeling inclusive behaviors and managing bias.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) in accordance with Regional standards.
  • Demonstrated leadership capabilities, including negotiation, facilitation, mentoring, conflict resolution, and leading diverse teams through complex initiatives.
  • Proven ability to build and sustain partnerships with government agencies, health organizations, and system stakeholders to influence policy and service delivery.
  • Demonstrated short and long term planning skills and ability to execute complex initiatives.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and collaboration skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex information to varied audiences.
  • Advanced research, analytical, and data synthesis skills to inform strategy development and evidence-based recommendations.
  • Proven problem-solving skills with tact, diplomacy, and political acuity in complex and sensitive environments.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills, with a collaborative, innovative approach to stakeholder engagement.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and experience with the Behavioural Supports Ontario program and/or knowledge and experience caring for populations experiencing responsive behaviours is an asset.
  • Demonstrated experience within the long-term care (LTC) sector, with a solid understanding of its operational and regulatory environment, is considered an asset.
  • Regulated health care provider designation is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and clinical leadership for BSO services across the Central West region.
  • Lead system planning, funding utilization, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Manage regional BSO budgets, performance reporting, and ministry accountability.
  • Oversee multidisciplinary teams delivering mobile behavioural support services.
  • Ensure alignment to the provincial BSO mandate, practice standards, and performance expectations.
  • Strengthen system integration and partnerships across health sectors.
  • Prepare and present high-level reports and recommendations to senior leaders and system partners.
