About The Position

Sentara Heart Hospital, located on the campus of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia, is hiring a Manager of Surgical Services for the Cardiac OR. This role assumes responsibility and accountability for operations and success, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services that meet or exceed customer expectations. The position is responsible for the safe management of patients throughout their perioperative experience. The Manager will serve as a mentor, role-modeling professional practice consistent with surgeon expectations, organizational goals, customer service, clinical effectiveness, patient safety, and clinical standards of care. The Cardiac Operating Room Department consists of five operating rooms, including one hybrid OR, managing 8+ cases daily. The team works with a multi-disciplinary group of specialists including Cardio-thoracic Surgeons, OR attendants, Surgical Techs, Surgical Assistants, Perfusionists, Anesthesiologists, Cardiovascular Technologists, and Physician Assistants. The cardiovascular operating room nurse prepares the OR room, ensures equipment and medications are available, reviews patient charts, assesses patients, preps and positions patients, administers medications, monitors vital signs, documents information, provides a call report to the ICU floor nurse, and prepares the OR for the next case.

Requirements

  • BSN Degree REQUIRED
  • Virginia RN License REQUIRED
  • 3 year OR experience REQUIRED
  • 3 years leadership experience REQUIRED
  • Strong leadership and communications skills are a must.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's level degree in nursing PREFERRED

  • Provides a call report to the ICU floor nurse after the surgical procedure.
  • Prepares OR for the next case.
