BLUE ORIGINWest Melbourne, FL

About The Position

At Blue Origin, we envision millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth. We’re working to develop reusable, safe, and low-cost space vehicles and systems within a culture of safety, collaboration, and inclusion. Join our team of problem solvers as we add new chapters to the history of spaceflight! This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities. As Operations Reliability Manager for Asset Development, you will stand up and lead Blue Origin's Asset Development Reliability (ADR) function, building reliability into new assets, tooling, GSE, and launch infrastructure before they reach operations. ADR spans two functions, Design Reliability and Asset Introduction, and exists to ensure reliability is engineered in up front. Passion for our mission and vision is required.

Requirements

  • B.S. degree in engineering or related technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years in engineering, manufacturing, test, or operations in a complex hardware environment.
  • 2+ years leading engineers or technical teams.
  • Demonstrated experience in reliability engineering methods such as FMEA, RCA, criticality analysis, maintainability, and reliability requirements development.
  • Experience driving reliability or design inputs across organizational boundaries with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in aerospace, launch, or other high-reliability operations environments.
  • Experience standing up a new team or function from the ground up.
  • Reliability certification such as ASQ CRE, or formal reliability engineering training.
  • Experience with asset introduction, commissioning, and transition of new hardware or systems into sustained operations.
  • Experience with large assembly and tooling fabrication, ground systems, or GSE.
  • Familiarity with vendor oversight and acceptance, verifying reliability and quality requirements are met before delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Build and lead the ADR team across the Design Reliability and Asset Introduction functions, including hiring, mentoring, and developing reliability engineers at multiple levels.
  • Own reliability engineering inputs into the design of new assets, GSE, tooling, and launch infrastructure, including requirements, FMEA, criticality, maintainability, and critical spares.
  • Establish and run the reliability gate for asset introduction, ensuring new assets are commissioned, validated, and transitioned into operations to a defined reliability standard.
  • Partner with Design, Ground Systems Development, Maintenance, and Operations to drive reliability requirements upstream into the design phase.
  • Set priorities and balance demand across the team's two functions against program needs and the launch-rate ramp.
  • Represent ADR in reviews, escalations, and cross-organizational decisions; communicate reliability risk and recommendations to leadership.
  • Ability to support off-shift or weekend work during critical builds or investigations.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, paid parental leave, short and long-term disability, 401(k) with a company match of up to 5%, and an Education Support Program.
