About The Position

Toyota Canada Inc. is seeking a Manager, Accessories Quality Engineering to join their Accessories department. This full-time role reports to the National Manager, Accessories and is responsible for developing and improving Accessory Quality Engineering processes and programs to enhance product quality and customer experience. The role involves monitoring and investigating accessory quality reports, developing countermeasures, and managing the Technical Approval process for Toyota Canada Service Marketing products from TMC Window Group.

Requirements

  • University degree in Engineering (Industrial Engineering with a background of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred).
  • 8 to 10 years of experience in automotive engineering.
  • Expert knowledge of the Toyota Production System (TPS).
  • Working knowledge of Six Sigma techniques.
  • Operational experience in production environments.
  • Automotive experience with solid Toyota/Lexus product knowledge preferred.
  • Sound technical knowledge of automotive electronics & mechanical systems for design.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills.
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation and analytical skills.
  • Proven ability to initiate & improve work processes to increase efficiencies.
  • Ability to travel up to 50%.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Toyota Canada Certified Vendor program and gain buy-in from the vendor community, including performing vendor assessments, validating results, developing an implementation schedule, and launching the implementation phase.
  • Provide technical support to vendors to improve operations and certification levels.
  • Track corporate accessory Claim Rate and Failure Proportion, and review Flash Product Reports, Field Technical Reports, Port Quality Reports, and Customer Interaction Centre input to develop countermeasures and field fixes.
  • Collaborate with Design Engineering to identify root causes and support countermeasure and field fix development.
  • Monitor and track accessory warranty costs and vendor reimbursements.
  • Provide timely technical support to Legal, PQSS, Customer Relations, etc.
  • Work with Toyota Canada ports to implement quality programs.
  • Support the Product Quality & Service Support department with joint projects.
  • Provide technical support to the Toyota Canada service marketing team with product technical approval by participating in required meetings and reviewing technical requirements according to Toyota Standards.
  • Ensure vendor compliance with requirements set by Toyota Canada Legal or Regulatory Affairs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the junior team, including mentoring an Intern Engineering student.
  • Engage in self-improvement to acquire the latest updates on vendor management and quality programs in manufacturing.
  • Perform other duties as required.
  • Provide timely guidance, coaching, feedback, and accountability for direct reports to drive learning & development and successful project completion.
  • Lead team members to foster collaboration, understanding, support & Kaizen (continuous improvement) resulting in work efficiencies.
  • Empower the team to take initiative and proactively influence the business.
